The Zoya Pixie Dust Collection is one of my favorite new nail polish collections! The polishes all dry matte with a textured finish, yet they sparkle and glow like crazy. In fact, my husband even complimented my nails when I wore this polish, saying it reminds him of “glitter Christmas ornaments.” Sometimes men have a way of finding comparisons for things that I would not have previously thought of, but he is totally right. The finish reminds me of twinkling, glittering ornaments on a tree. Today, I have for you Chyna, which is just one of the beautiful six shades in this collection. Like a modern-day pair of ruby red slippers, “Chyna” sparkles and shines, yet has a textured, matte finish.
Chyna is a ruby red with a darker burgundy looking base. This polish is incredibly unique in that it looks like crushed glitter or rock candy on the nails. When I first applied this polish, it was love at first sight. It looks unlike anything else I have in my expansive nail polish collection, and it glows and sparkles in the light. The matte texture really gives it a look of depth and dimension.
Since the texture dries matte, I was concerned that this polish wouldn’t have long lasting power. I was pleasantly surprised when this polish wore a full EIGHT days on my nails with just minor tip wear. This stuff doesn’t budge once it’s on your nails. It can be a tad difficult to remove, but I find that soaking a cotton pad in nail polish remover and letting it sit on the nail for ten seconds helps make removal easier. My personal preference is that I’d rather have a polish that lasts a very long time and is a bit difficult to remove rather than a polish that chips and looks crappy a couple days after application.
All of these swatches are two even coats of polish. It was incredibly pigmented and opaque from the get-go. Once you apply a coat, give it a minute or two to dry matte. You don’t use a topcoat with these nail polishes at all.
Overall: The texture and effect on the Zoya Pixie Dust Collection is incredibly unique and long-lasting. Chyna is great for those who love red nail polish. I personally find this polish to be a great modern take on the classic sexy, sophisticated red manicure.
The Zoya Pixie Dust Collection is available in six shades, including Chyna. Each nail polish retails for $9.00 USD and can be found at Ulta stores nationwide, as well as online at Zoya’s website. The complete six-piece collection retails for $54.00 USD. I have the other five shades coming up for review, so keep a look out for them! They are absolutely stunning and my current favorite nail polishes.
