Blogging isn’t always the easiest task, in that you try to stay as creatively inspired as possible at all times. I’ve had some ask me where I draw my inspiration from for posts and tutorials, and I thought this was the perfect time to share some of the top things I notice about you! I often draw inspiration from beautiful women, not just famous ones, who have gorgeous makeup on while they are out, or even just have uniquely gorgeous facial features. I distinctly remember being at the store last week and noticing the facial bone structure of the female cashier who had a Polish accent. Her cheekbones, her nose, her eyes…everything looked uniquely European and exotic. These are the experiences that I draw inspiration from for not only blog posts but also for makeup looks. Inside, I share my top inspirations and what I notice about people!

- The eyes have it. I will forever notice eyes first on people. Whether they’re bright blue or green or doe-eyed brown eyes, I seem to really focus on their eyes first and foremost. I think it’s fascinating how everyone not only has a unique eye color, but shape, as well. Some of our eyes are more hooded or have a deeper socket. Some slope upward, are big and round, or almond-shaped. Part of doing makeup is recognizing the specific eye shape of that person and playing to their strengths. It’s not just how unique everyone’s eyes are, either. I often find myself wondering what eyeshadow a woman is wearing, and I will compliment her and ask her! Great eye makeup is always an attention getter for me. I’m constantly drawing inspiration from real-life women and even celebrities on the red carpet when they go to events.
- Highlighted skin. I don’t know what it is about highlighted cheekbones, but every single time I see someone with a beautiful highlight, I can’t help but wonder what product they used. Dewy, glowing skin is a sign of great health and youth, so when I see a highlighted face, I just find it to be ethereal and stunning. Some of my favorite highlighted faces are the Victoria’s Secret angels, who always have that extremely dewy, natural looking glow to their skin. I think skin in general just catches my eye, especially when it has that glowing look to it.
- Pucker up! Lips are one of my other main focal points when I’m looking at someone’s features. I love lipstick and lip gloss because they can be the center of attention on someone’s face if the color is bold or uniquely pretty. Again, when I’m looking at celebrities on the red carpet, I always love a great bold lip, whether it be red, hot pink, or a dark vampy burgundy shade. The color you put on your lips can change the entire mood of your outfit and even your day!
- Nailed it. Confessions of a nail polish lover: I always look at your nails! I love seeing different nail polish shades, nail shapes, and nail art, and if you’ve got awesome nail polish or nail art on, you better believe I am going to compliment you on it! A great manicure or pedicure goes a long way into looking perfectly polished. Nail polish can really tie your entire look together, especially in a professional environment, and I love experimenting with various shades. If I see a fantastic nail art tutorial online, I will definitely bookmark it and try to recreate it. I draw inspiration from the color of nail polish too, and it will often inspire an eye makeup look!
These are the main beauty-related things that I notice about others and that I draw inspiration from for blog posts. If I’m on Instagram or Pinterest, I am very likely to “like” that particular picture or re-pin a photograph if it has gorgeous eye makeup, highlighted skin, a great lipstick, or cool nails. Of course, these are only aesthetic features that I notice about people. I’m more likely to be interested in the personality behind the really cool nail art or the edgy, funky eye makeup. Makeup and beauty is just a way for us to express ourselves and let the world know little bits and pieces about our personality!
