I finally found the Wet n Wild “Spring Forward” Collection Eyeshadow Palettes yesterday! It was like finding out you’ve won a raffle or won money from a scratch-off lottery ticket. I did a little shriek and jump right inside of the CVS aisle, and no, I am not ashamed. I’ve been looking for these for several weeks now, and I have to say that I love them even more in person. Inside I’ve got swatches of Going In The Wild and Nude Awakening.
Let’s take a moment to pause and look at the display for this collection. I rounded a corner in the store and my heart went pitter-patter for these!
Nude Awakening is a palette of eight eyeshadow shades in all neutral colors. If you’re more of a natural makeup kind of person, or you just want to add to your collection of neutrals, this is a great, inexpensive option for you. There is a mix of matte and shimmer shades, as well.
The left row is composed of light shades. At first I was being a little hard on the pigmentation of these, thinking they were a bit weak, but these colors are supposed to be soft and light, and they are definitely buildable in layers if you wanted a more dramatic look. I really like the matte brown in this row and it reminds me a lot of Urban Decay’s “Buck” eyeshadow which is a cult-favorite in the Naked Palette.
The right row has a mixture of shimmering metallic shades, including a light copper brown, a darker cool-toned brown, a silver, and a black.
Going in the Wild is the colorful palette of the two. It’s actually incredibly gorgeous to look at and even to photograph. The palette has a nice mix of pastels and darker shades to define and smoke out your eyes.
The left side of the palette had me a bit disappointed, I’ll be honest. It just didn’t have the pigmentation I was expecting, especially those gorgeous purple shades. They weren’t overly soft on my finger, either.
The right row of colors makes up for the left row with classic Wet n Wild pigmentation and gorgeous shades. That mint green is worth buying the entire palette alone. The eyeshadow was soft and rich in color, and I can’t wait to use these shades together for a look.
Overall: You’re definitely getting a wonderful mix of colors and finishes in these eyeshadow palettes. Going in the Wild had some pigmentation issues on one side of the palette, while the other side was perfectly rich in color. Nude Awakening is perfect for the neutral eyeshadow lover on a budget with eight eyeshadow shades in nude colors. You can’t go wrong with Wet n Wild!
The Wet n Wild “Spring Forward” Collection Eyeshadow Palettes are limited edition and retail for $4.99 USD each at drugstores nationwide.
