It makes me really happy that we are officially seeing cooler temperatures! We were able to open our windows for the first time since April last night and I had the best night of sleep in awhile. This morning, I was able to enjoy my coffee outside with a sweater on and it was incredible. In the spirit of autumn, I wanted to put together a warm fall smoky eye. Fall makeup to me is richer, warmer, and bolder. I used a drugstore palette, one of my new favorites, L’oreal “Treasured Bronze” Eyeshadow Palette. It’s under $10 and is readily available at any drugstore or mass retailer. The shades in it are perfectly reminiscent of the rich bronze and chocolate tones we see during the autumn months. Full look and tutorial inside,
To get this eye makeup look, I used L’oreal “Treasured Bronze” Eyeshadow Palette. I labeled the 4 shades in the palette as an easy guide:
- Use a fluffy blending brush and apply Shade 1 into your crease and blend upward generously toward the brow-bone. This is your transition color and it will peek out above everything else. Blend this well as you get higher up toward your brow-bone.
- Apply Shade 2 into the crease of your eye only. I used a fluffy blending brush for this step as well, and I make sure to focus fire it into the crease ONLY. I also brush this along the outer-third of my eyelid for some smokiness.
- Apply Shade 3 with a wet brush over your entire eyelid, stopping at the crease, and along your lower lash-line. The wet brush helps intensify the metallic sheen of the bronze shade.
- Go back with Shade 2 and your fluffy blending brush and make sure the crease is well blended and smoked out. Also apply a bit of this shade to the outer-third of your lower lash-line.
- Use Shade 4 in the inner corners of your eyes and on your brow-bone generously for a pop of shimmer. This adds light and really pulls the warm colors together.
At this point, you can make this eye makeup your own. You can add black or brown liner to your water-line, upper lashes, or leave it as is. I personally applied some bronze eyeliner to my water-line to intensify that bronze color on the lid. I curled my lashes, applied mascara, and added some super natural looking false lashes (Ardell Demi Wispies). I left eyeliner off my upper lash-line because I thought the warm bronze and chocolate shades were just too pretty to cover up.
To me, this look screams autumn. With hues of orange, bronze, copper, and chocolate, it reminds me of the changing leaves.
Since the eyes were full of warm shades, I put on a lot of highlighter to make my skin look extra glowy. I used my new favorite highlighter, Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator in So Hollywood. It’s genuinely a dream product. It applies beautifully and makes the skin look so luminous. It’s a great dupe for the ever-popular and elusive MAC “Whisper of Gilt.”
This look ended up turning out pretty reminiscent of Jennifer Lopez. She typically wears extremely luminous skin and bronzed eyes like this. I didn’t realize this until after the fact, but this is a great look to try at home if you’re a fan of her makeup looks. It can really warm up your entire complexion and eye color.
You can purchase the L’oreal “Treasured Bronze” Eyeshadow Palette at drugstores and mass retailers nationwide for under $10.00USD. Jennifer Lopez is actually a L’oreal spokeswoman as well, so I’m sure this actual palette has been used on her before! It’s a fantastic beauty bargain and drugstore find.
