The Urban Decay Vice Palette is essentially everything I could ever ask for in an eyeshadow palette. I feel like I’ve been waiting for Urban Decay to create this palette for years! Twenty brand new eyeshadow shades that have never been sold or seen before, all in one palette. This palette has a fantastic variety of matte, shimmer, bright, and neutral. I ordered this off the Urban Decay website the day it was released, and I just received it today. I was so anxious that I opened it up to play with it right away, and I was blown away by the swatches.
Okay, so the only thing I don’t like about this palette is the outside of the palette. It has packaging that feels like NARS, where it feels soft and velvety, but it also collects dirt and dust extremely easily. This is what it looked like (above) as soon as I took it out of the packaging and never even touched it. Like the NARS packaging, it just beckons dust and dirt to cling to it, which makes it look less pretty, but at least it’s just the packaging!
Twenty brand-new, never before seen or sold shades are in this palette. I love, love, love that this entire palette is all new. In the past, we’ve seen Urban Decay add a few new shades into palettes and include permanent shades in their line in with them. I feel like with a palette, you’ve got to introduce us to a brand new shade range that is limited edition and excitingly fresh. Plus, not only did they make every eyeshadow exclusively new, but they went with twenty eyeshadows! Twenty!
Each shade is labeled with a name, and the colors seem to be broken into color coordinated groups from left to right. We see metallic shades, blues and greens, pinks and purples, and then gorgeous neutrals that Urban Decay is widely known for with their Naked Palette.
The Swatches:
The only eyeshadow in this group that gave me a tiny problem was Jagged, and it has a little bit of fallout when you apply it. Every shade in this group is full of metallic shimmer. The intensity and color payoff is insane. One swipe with your finger or a brush, and you’re good to go.
Ah, the gorgeous blues and greens! Junkie is even more beautiful in person than in the swatches, if that is even possible. It’s the perfect mermaid blue-green with shimmer in it. Chaos is fantastic for those searching for a bright matte blue…the texture is wonderful and it’s highly pigmented. Another insanely rich group of shades that require only one pass of color for opaque payoff.
The purples and pinks in this group are highly feminine and reminds me of Barbie! Rapture, Vice, and Noise really stand out in this group as really bright, opaque shades. You know I love my purple, so I’m obsessed with these!
The last row of eyeshadow is reminiscent of the Urban Decay Naked Palettes. Five neutral shades, a mix of shimmer and matte, that will give you the perfect neutral eye look. They are so soft and silky, yet so rich in color. I love the mix of brights and neutrals in this palette!
Will you be purchasing this palette? I’m off to go play around with mine and come up with different eye tutorials to post on the site!

I know this post is a few months old, but I had to leave a comment about the packaging. I love this pallet too, but hated the dust and finger prints and how it always looked grimy. I found the perfect solution. Microfiber cloths. A quick wipe and everything vanishes leaving the packaging looking brand new again. Works great on Nars packaging (and my laptop). I keep one with my makeup kit now just so I can wipe down when needed. I don’t even wet it down, just dry it magically removes all the unwanted dust and finger prints.

Thank you so much for the awesome tip, Laura. I will have to give it a try with my NARS packaging, too. It looks so grimy and I want to make it look nice again!
