You may remember the post I did on the Benefit Sunday Funday Maggie Palette, which contains four gorgeous shimmering eyeshadow shades that have great pigmentation, but apply sheer enough to give you a healthy, natural, glowing look. I decided to break out the palette and come up with a great casual weekend look. Many thanks to @Jalove from Twitter for suggesting the name for this eye look – once she suggested it, it got me thinking about how like a beach sunset, it is vibrant, but yet the overall look is soft and glowing. To see how to achieve this look,
I used the Benefit Sunday Funday Maggie Collection palette for this look, but you can use any similar eyeshadow shades you have in your collection. Here are the quick, easy steps to achieve this look:
- Apply the bottom left hand shade, “Light Champagne,” to the inner corner of your eyelid. Sweep this shade up towards your brow bone, as well, creating a shimmering wash of color.
- Apply the top left hand shade, “Shimmering Bronze,” over your entire eyelid. Focus patting the color down in the middle of the eyelid so that your eyelid has a light, sandy bronze glow.
- Apply the bottom right hand shade, “Pretty In Plum,” to your entire crease in a windshield wiper motion. You can use a pencil brush for this (my all-time favorite is the Sigma E30 Pencil Brush), which helps to apply this shimmering purple shade very precisely. Using the same pencil brush, take whatever color is leftover on the brush, and apply the purple shade to your bottom lash line. This will add a gorgeous pop of color, and tie in your crease color beautifully.
- Apply the top right hand shade, “Pink Satin,” to the bottom inner corner of your eyes, blending it into the “Light Champagne” shade you swept on the upper inner corner of your eye. This just helps to add extra dimension to the inner corners of your eyes.
- Apply your favorite black eyeliner to your lower water line (I used Urban Decay’s 24/7 Liner in “Zero”). Curl your lashes and apply your favorite mascara (I used MAC Zoom Lash Mascara).
Sandy Sunset Eyes have a pop of shimmering, luminous color that every single beauty can wear!
For my lips, I used the lip gloss that came in the Benefit Sunday Funday Maggie Palette, “Shimmering Rose.”
