While attempting to come up with a makeup look using my L’oreal Project Runway Palette in Audacious Amazon’s Gaze, I literally found myself staring at the palette over and over again, drawing no creativity at all. My final creation was very spontaneous, and I decided to take the colors and create an 80’s-inspired eye look that is colorful but still wearable. This is a great look for the weekend, or even for Halloween if you plan on doing an 80’s themed costume. I was happy that the shades in the palette were buildable, meaning they didn’t come onto your eye so richly pigmented that you feel like you can’t wear this look out anywhere. I wore this eye look out on the weekend while shopping, and it added that colorful, fun pop to my eyes without overwhelming them. To see how I achieved this look,
The above palette is labeled with numbers to use as a guide for achieving this look:
- Prime your eyelids. This will help the colors look more vibrant, and also prevent any creasing.
- Apply shade #2 to your crease and onto your eyelid. I swept this color from my crease to my eyelid, being generous with the color because the coral is somewhat sheer and will just help give dimension.
- Apply shade #3 to your upper lash line. You can wet your makeup brush for a more intense purple, or simple trace your brush along your upper lash line. The purple is going to make your eyes pop. I also took this color onto my lower lash line, as well.
- Apply shade #4 to the inner corners of your eye. The lime green shade will really make the coral and the purple pop even more, and it will awaken your eyes.
- Apply shade #1 to your brow-bone lightly. The yellow shade is quite sheer when applied with a light hand, so use this to highlight your brow-bone lightly and add to the colorful look.
- Line your lower water-line with black eyeliner and apply mascara. This step will add contrast to all the bright colors in the look, and add some sophistication. Apply lots of black mascara to those curled lashes for dramatic effect!
The finished look is very reminiscent of the popular color-blocking trend going on right now! This palette helped spice up my eye makeup by adding contrasting colors, but at the same time they all complement each other and are sheer enough to be worn every day.
