I was having an extremely stressful day last week and all I wanted was some retail therapy (don’t judge me), so off to Sephora I went. I think I was restless and exhausted because I almost didn’t find anything I really wanted and nothing was catching my eye. The last aisle in my Sephora has a Too Faced display, and low behold, this palette was sitting there in all of its dazzling beauty. The Return of Sexy Palette was screaming my name and I had to have it. After playing around with the shades in it, I have to legitimately say that I think this is my favorite palette release since Urban Decay’s “Naked 2” palette which came out last December. I love the way the palette is broken up into three color combinations, which lends itself a much more luxurious feel (Lancome, anyone?). As usual, the shadows are soft and pillow-like on my eyes, and super pigmented. To see this mighty foxy palette in detail,
The Packaging:
It’s clear by all means that Too Faced brought sexy back with this palette. It is separated into three sections by color combinations and inspired by their favorite beauties and bombshells from the past and present. Each section has a specific name: “The Ingenue,” “The Icon,” and “The Bombshell.” Of course, mixing and matching the shades in this palette is just as fun as sticking with the color combinations they give you!
The Extra’s:
The palette also comes with a full-size Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner in black, which I LOVE! This eyeliner is so creamy and smooth, and feels like a gel in a pencil. The eyeliner has a smudger on the other end, as well, making it perfect to travel with. I have used this eyeliner before and I really like it. It stays put all day and doesn’t venture out of my waterline and under my eyes.
The palette also comes with a deluxe-sample size of their famous Shadow Insurance Eye Primer, which I already use under all of my eyeshadow on a daily basis. It not only helps your eyeshadow stay put all day long, but it makes the colors show up much more vibrant.
Too Faced includes 3 “How-To” cards with 6 different makeup looks with the palette. This is actually a fairly new thing that makeup companies have been doing, and I think it’s so helpful for those days when you’re feeling uninspired, tired, or even if you’re simply a beginner at makeup and don’t know where to start.
The Eyeshadow Shades:
The Return of Sexy Palette contains three “sections” of color coordinating eyeshadow shades, for a total of fifteen eyeshadows in the entire palette. You can use these shades wet for a more intense finish/look, or you can use them dry. I’ve used them both wet and dry, and I honestly feel like these are vibrant enough even while dry. What more can you ask for? Opaque, pigmented, soft eyeshadow is always a hit.
Overall: I can’t find a single fault with this palette. You get a healthy mix of neutral shades, dark shades, and vibrant shades, all in one palette. They all perform beautifully when swatched, and they’re cheekily named after great beauties of the past! The addition of the full-size waterproof eyeliner and the deluxe-size sample of their eyeshadow primer makes this a win-win purchase.
