Summer is just around the corner with Memorial Day weekend almost here (the unofficial start to summer). Bronzer is a must-have during the summertime. It can enhance your natural skin tone, complement a tanned complexion, and help contour and chisel the features of your face. Today I have three of the new Maybelline Dream Sun Bronzing Powders for you. Each gorgeous with their own depth of color and finish, there is something for everyone here. The best part is that these bronzing powders come with a drugstore price…so no breaking the bank!

100 – Glow Light offers a touch of shimmer that is perfect for highlighting your cheekbones and brow-bones. You can also dust this shade over your collarbones, shoulders, legs, and arms to give yourself a sexy but subtle glow. The “Glow” shade is available in Light and Medium, and above is “Light.” For fair to light skin tones, this can actually act as a bronzer, whereas medium to darker skin will find it works best as a highlight. It has a really nice, naturally luminous sheen to it. I would also use this shade as an eyeshadow to add some glow to my eyelids!
130 – Matte Medium is the perfect matte bronzer for those with light to medium skin. I adore the matte finish because it doesn’t end up making you look shiny or overly shimmery. It doesn’t emphasize pores or imperfections, and it also doubles as an amazing contour powder for your face. The shade is not orange at all…it’s the ideal brown shade you want in a bronzer. I’d also use this shade as a natural looking crease shade for an eye makeup look. It’s really a very versatile product because it’s matte and puts down great color. I highly recommend this one in particular since you can use it as bronzer, eyeshadow, or even to contour your cheekbones and nose.
150 – Four Seasons Medium is a multi-tonal palette of bronzed shades. You can customize and choose how light or dark you want to go by dipping your brush into the lighter part or the darker area. You can also just take your brush and combine all the colors together for a multi-dimensional look. This one offers customization, so you can use the lighter shades during your paler months, say fall and winter, and the darker shades during the spring and summer. It gives off a slight sheen that falls somewhere between the other two that I’ve swatched.
Above, you can see the nuances in shade and color. The least orange of the three is definitely the “Matte Medium,” which is why I love it so much. The “Four Seasons Medium” can really be built up to be dark, which makes it suitable for medium-dark and dark skin tones. The “Glow Light” has a very luminescent champagne-bronze tone to it. Overall, all were pigmented and soft to the touch. I obviously applied these heavily on my hand so you can see the shades and the finish of each. These all blend out very well into natural looking shades.
The Maybelline Dream Sun Bronzing Powders are part of their limited edition Sweet Summertime Collection, available for the month of May 2013 only. You can purchase these at drugstores and mass retailers nationwide for $8.99 USD each, making them a major beauty bargain. There are four types available: Four Seasons, Matte Powder, Glow Powder, and Face Illuminator (the only one not shown in this editorial). The Matte Powder, Glow Powder, and Four Seasons are all available in both Light and Medium. If you’re looking for an excellent bargain-priced bronzing powder, these are highly recommended by me!
