Summer 2011 Lookbook: OPI Serena Glam Slam Spark De Triomphe & White Shatter Set

See Serena Glam Slam Rally Pretty Pink & Red Shatter on Beauty Gala!

OPI Nail Lacquer has some of the most amazing collections coming out for all of you nail polish lovers out there! They are releasing some great shatter colors this summer, as well as some beautiful light-as-air summer shades. The OPI Serena Glam Slam Spark De Triomphe & White Shatter Set is a set of two OPI nail polishes: a sparkling metallic glitter, and a white shatter. Combined, the two look absolutely stunning. To see photographs and swatches,

Serena Glam Slam Spark De Triomphe & White Shatter Set comes with two nail lacquers, and directions on the back to achieving the unique shatter look.

The two nail lacquers in this set are fabulous! Spark De Triomphe is a metallic silvery-gold glitter. I know, I know. Silvery-gold sounds, well, impossible, but trust me when I tell you this has different reflects in it. At first glance I thought it was silver, then I thought it was more gold on my nails, and then back to silver again. Hopefully someone else can confirm this, and that I am not absolutely crazy! White Shatter is a white nail polish topcoat that literally shrinks and “shatters” on your nails when applied over a base coat color. This is the first OPI shatter color that has been released other than black. They are releasing a whole group of a-m-a-z-i-n-g colors, which I also received, and I can’t wait to swatch them and show you!

How To Get This Look:

Step One: Apply Spark De Triomphe on your nails. This shade is glittery and metallic, and will catch the light beautifully. I used two coats to get a nice opaque finish. This shade really does look gold and silver somehow, and is definitely unique to my collection. I will be rockin’ this shade by itself!

Step Two: Apply White Shatter over your dried base coat. Make sure you use a small amount of White Shatter, and only apply one coat. If you apply too thick of a coat or more than one, it will not shatter properly. Also, for a better shatter effect, apply your shatter polish on a diagonal, rather than vertically.

The White Shatter will slowly contract and shrink, creating a shatter/crackle effect. In between the cracks, you will see the gorgeous metallic glitter. The great thing about this set is that you can use the White Shatter over any polish color you want. It will look gorgeous layered over neon’s for the summertime!

It is worth mentioning that I personally feel the OPI White Shatter comes out much better than the China Glaze Crackle white polish. The formula on OPI’s is less “sticky” and thick, and shatters beautifully with no problems, whereas some of the China Glaze Crackle polishes didn’t “crackle” so well on my nails.

The OPI Serena Glam Slam Spark De Triomphe & White Shatter Set will be available starting May 1st at Ulta stores nationwide. There are also other Serena Williams inspired sets from OPI, including one with a neon yellow and the black shatter, as well as a brand new set for summer 2011, which I will swatch tomorrow!

The Ulta store in Brighton MI did not have the Serena Glam Slam Spark De Triomphe & White Shatter Set available today, May 1st. The sales staff didn’t even know what I was requesting. Very disappointing!

Kathleen – sometimes Ulta stores are behind on releasing their OPI collections and it may take a week or two for them to get it in. In my experience, a lot of the Ulta staff have no clue about specific collections (I’ve heard the same complaint from many people). I’d keep checking as often as possible. I’ve been hearing that some Ulta stores may not get these until mid-May or even the beginning of June, though OPI has confirmed with me that they release May 1st…
