The LORAC Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette is definitely an alternative to the ever-so-famous Urban Decay Naked Palette. Upon receiving this gorgeous eyeshadow palette, the first thing I thought was how similar the two are, and so I was sure to look for any differences I noticed. This palette contains ten eyeshadows versus Urban Decay’s twelve, however, this palette is less expensive than the Naked Palette. Another huge score for this palette is that it contains a wonderfully healthy mix of matte eyeshadows in it, which a lot of people prefer to work with, or at least have the option to work with in a palette. The eyeshadow in this palette is also larger than in the Naked Palette, yet they still have extremely rich, pigmented color payoff. If you’d like to see plenty more photographs and swatches,
The Unzipped Palette contains ten eyeshadows and also comes with a mini eyeshadow primer inside. I love the name of this palette! It’s very cheeky and still gives you the idea that this palette is going to contain all nude shades.
A big complaint about the Urban Decay Naked Palettes is that they don’t contain enough matte’s in them, and also that the tend to lean either cool or warm. This palette debunks both of those by providing 4 matte shades, as well as being universally flattering to both warm and cool skin tones. While the top row of eyeshadows tends to lean a little more on the cool side and the bottom row a little more on the warm side, every shade is flattering on all skin tones regardless of warm or cool undertones.
While swatching the colors, I used the mini eyeshadow primer that came with the palette. I have to say that I really like this primer because I felt like it actually made the colors in the palette look more vibrant.
The top row of the palette contains three matte shades and two shimmer shades. The shimmer shades are glowing and gorgeous and the matte shades are beautiful shades that contain absolutely no shimmer in them whatsoever. Every shade performed extremely well in just one swipe, putting down massively rich, stunning color!
The bottom row definitely leans a little more on the warm side, and the colors are stunning. The matte shade in the bunch performed really well, and they all laid down perfect pigmentation.
Overall: If you’re looking for a palette of neutral shades that contains a healthy mix of matte eyeshadows, this is perfect for you. It is also easier on the wallet than the Naked Palettes are, but still has the exact same quality. This is a universally flattering palette that isn’t going to lean too cool or too warm for different complexions. It’s an extremely solid, dependable, portable palette of nude shades that are perfect for everyday wear. This palette has simply stellar reviews on Sephora.com from those who have purchased it.
