When I had the opportunity to try out the ISSA by FOREO Toothbrush, I was super excited because I am your classic example of someone who has extremely sensitive teeth and gums. My whole life, I’ve always had tooth sensitivity to hot and cold drinks and food. Despite never having a cavity in my entire life and having great dental health, I’ve always had issues with my gums and teeth being sensitive. My dentist has told me time and time again to switch my toothbrush to a softer variety and see if it helps. I’ve always been told to brush less hard. This product solves these issues all at once for me.

 

When you first see the ISSA by FOREO Toothbrush it might freak you out a little bit because it doesn’t look like anything else on the market. It’s made of nonporous silicone that is BPA and phthalate free. Mine is a gorgeous mint shade.

 

It comes with the toothbrush, a USB charger, a pouch, and an authenticity card for warranty purposes. Each charge on the toothbrush gives you 365 uses, enough for six months worth of brushing. It comes already charged inside the box. I was really impressed by this since most products lose their charge fairly quickly.

 

 

I also absolutely adore that pouch it comes with. It’s great for traveling with your toothbrush and also to keep it hygienic when it’s not in use. Now I don’t have to stick my toothbrush in plastic bags anymore when traveling!

 

You turn the actual toothbrush on by hitting the middle button. It has a “+” and “-” sign which will turn the pulsations either higher or lower, depending on your preferences.

 

So why silicone bristles? Silicone is softer and gentler on your teeth and gums than a typical toothbrush, which actually scratches your gums and teeth. The silicone bristles generate friction to remove stains and plaque while remaining gentle on your tooth enamel and helping to prevent gum recession. The brush also reminds you every 30 seconds to move to a new quadrant of your mouth for an ideal  2 minute brushing session. Since this toothbrush is made of silicone, it’s also nonporous, which makes it 35x more hygienic than a typical toothbrush which can harbor bacteria and germs.

 

Now I bet you want to know what this toothbrush actually feels like and what my results have been. I have to say that I was skeptical at first. It feels weird at first, I’m not going to sugarcoat it. I think I am so used to using a regular toothbrush that when I first used this one, I assumed it wasn’t cleaning my teeth. However, the longer I used this, the more I adapted to how gentle it was. Now this toothbrush feels like the new normal and my gums are far less irritated. Regular toothbrushes used to scratch my gums up and leave me with a sore mouth and sensitive teeth. This product has really been a game changer for me.

It’s very gentle and yet it cleans my teeth well. Once you get used to the pulsations and the feeling of having gentle silicone bristles clean your teeth, you won’t want to go back. My dentist has confirmed continued fabulous dental health and hygiene, so I know this toothbrush is working!
