I have serious “emerald fever” going on lately. The Pantone Color of the Year for 2013 is emerald, and it has been everywhere. The Sephora + Pantone Universe Glitter Strobe Eyeliner Set is the second item I’ve purchased from the Sephora emerald color collection now. A set of four emerald eyeliners, each one has a slightly different finish to it which gives you choices when you want to rock the emerald eye makeup. I wore one of these eyeliners for a St. Patrick’s Day party on Saturday night, and it didn’t budge, even through the next day! I’ve got plenty of swatches and photographs inside, as well as my look from Saturday night.
The name of this set is actually slightly misleading because not all four eyeliners have glitter in them. Each of them have a different finish to them which you’ll notice when you see swatches of them next to each other. The eyeliners have a thin-tipped brush that is actually surprisingly easy to use. I had no problem applying this eyeliner with the thin-tipped brush, and I think that because the eyeliners are physically smaller than normal eyeliners, it makes it easy to grip and control.
The first of the four is a pure glitter emerald. This one is gorgeous and, of course, caught my eye first. It actually appears more glittery in the tube than it does when it is applied. It’s sort of like glitter for grown-ups.
I liked that the glitter was a little more demure. You can still notice the sparkle in it, but it’s not in-your-face glittery.
The second of the four is a metallic emerald green. This one has a strong metallic finish and I love it against the bright emerald color. Gor-geous.
You can see the two different finishes so far above.
The third of the four is a straight bright emerald creme. This one is a little brighter than the other two I’ve shown so far.
You can see the little nuances in the colors when they are placed next to each other. The third one is more of a bright emerald than the other two.
The fourth and last one is a bit darker than the third, but contains a really pretty subdued shimmer to it. I almost didn’t notice it until I held it to the light.
You can see the slight shimmer in the fourth eyeliner above.
You can see above that they all have a slightly different finish and shade to them. I like that this little set gives you options! Each eyeliner is so super saturated that it is dripping in pigment. One swipe with the eyeliner brush and you’ve got gorgeous emerald color. The formula was also really easy to work with on each and every single one. The actual product wasn’t too thin or thick and it didn’t run off my eyes. The product dried fairly quickly, as well, which I love because I hate when liquid eyeliners take forever to dry and end up spreading all around your eye area.
The only perceivable downside I can find to this product is that they are extremely long-wearing. I actually like that they will last forever and ever on your eyes and stay put through a long day and night, but you will probably need a couple of applications of eye makeup remover and cleanser to get rid of the green pigment for good. I wore one of these eyeliners on Saturday night, and still had a trace of emerald green liner on my eyes until last night (Sunday).
My St. Patrick’s Day Look: I wore this to a party on Saturday night, and it was a long night, so I wanted to put these to the test. I kept my eye makeup fairly simple by applying a beige shade over the eyelid, and a matte light brown into the crease area. I used one of the emerald liners on my upper lash-line and flicked it out into a dramatic cat-eye. I wanted to add false lashes to complete the look and make it look even more dramatic, but I was short on time because my husband misjudged the time of the party and we were over two hours late!
I ended up using the third eyeliner I swatched in this post, the brightest green creme. It love how it was incredibly easy to apply, super pigmented, and dried quickly. It stayed put the entire night and then some. Since the emerald liner was so bright, I stuck with bronzed cheeks and nude lips. I love the way bronzed cheeks and nude lips look with green eye makeup!
Overall: This mini-set of four emerald green eyeliners is sure to tickle any emerald lovers fancy! Each eyeliner has a different finish to it, but the super-pigmented, rich formula is the same across the board. The possibilities of these are endless, and I am already thinking of creating a makeup look with black cat-liner on my upper lash-line, with one of these emerald liners over top of it! The only perceivable downside is that it will take a little extra washing to remove the green pigment entirely. Within twenty-fours, the eyeliner was gone from my eyelids, but it did last through a couple of face washes.
The Sephora + Pantone Universe Glitter Strobe Eyeliner Set is available at Sephora stores nationwide as well as online at Sephora’s website. It is currently out-of-stock online due to popularity, but you can be notified when it comes back in stock. Each kit retails for $18.00 USD for four 0.05oz eyeliners. With how pigmented these are, they will last you forever. I urge you to check out Sephora + Pantone Universe’s Emerald Collection in person or online when you get a chance…it is absolutely stunning. I think I may have a few other items from the collection on my own wishlist still!
