I finally spotted these in the store last week and I was so psyched because matte lip products are being brought to the drugstore. These are the brand new Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolors, and there are 8 shades available total. I have only spotted 6 of them in a display so far, and the 2 shades I have seen that I am missing were a classic bright red and a babydoll pink shade that is very close to one of the shades you see above (so I skipped purchasing it). I put these to the test and have full swatches and my thoughts inside,
Off the bat, these Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolors have great packaging that stands out against other drugstore products. Before I even noticed the display, the tubes caught my eye because they simply look classy and high end. Each shade comes with a flat tip applicator, which makes applying color really easy. These applicators make it nice and simple to apply rich color within the lines of your lips.
600 – Devotion is a cheerful carnation pink shade. It’s not too bright or neon and it’s not a pale babydoll pink. This is one of those shades that looks great on everyone.
One of the first things I noticed is that these are not really fully matte. I would call them more of a satin finish, since they still have a touch of gloss and shine to them. The texture is more of a mousse that feels super hydrating and slowly dries down to a long-lasting satin-finish stain. If you are looking for a similar formula to higher end brands’ liquid lipstick, this is not it. The formula is completely different than any other matte liquid lip color I have tried before.
615 – Temptation is a neon, blue-based hot pink shade. This one will make your teeth look whiter and it’s great for those who love really bright pink shades. Like every single one of the 4 shades I have in this post, it was extremely pigmented with just a swipe or two.
610 – Addiction is a darkened berry shade. This one is stunning! I love this shade for the fall and winter months and it’s been a staple in my makeup routine lately. As I mentioned before, these are NOT fully matte and still have a touch of satin shine to them. I actually love how moisturizing and smooth they sit on the lips compared to regular matte liquid lipsticks which can make your lips appear cracked and chapped.
630 – Seduction is your classic nude shade. It applied beautifully and felt really hydrating to my lips. My biggest problem when wearing nude matte lipsticks is that they can really highlight any dryness or lines on your lips. The mousse-like formula on these completely solve that problem while still giving off great color payoff.
Top to bottom: 600 – Devotion, 615 – Temptation, 630 – Seduction, and 610 – Addiction.
Overall: If you are a die-hard matte lipstick fan, you may be put off by the fact that these are not 100% matte in finish and that the formula is different than most matte liquid lipsticks. However, these are wonderful lip products with a high intensity color payoff, rich lasting power, and smooth hydration that dries down to a satin-like finish. They are also much more inexpensive than your typical matte liquid lipstick and are drugstore available. I’m personally a big fan of these because they don’t dry out my lips!
Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolors are a brand new product as of Fall 2015 and will be rolled out at drugstores and mass retailers nationwide. Each lipcolor retails for around $7.99USD, making these a great beauty bargain. See all the shades here.
