Many women ask me often, “How do you define what a beauty junkie is?” Often times, we will share a laugh when I describe a beauty junkie as someone who will eat ramen noodles for a week in order to buy the latest Dior lipstick. As a beauty junkie, I am fascinated by makeup brands and products not only from my own region and country, but from around the world. If I could dip my hand into a basket of beauty products from various continents and countries, I would be ecstatic. Marcelle® actually originated in Chicago in 1933, but it’s been a Canadian brand since the early 1970′s. When I was given the opportunity to try out these lip glosses, I was extremely excited to try a Canadian brand, not only to try something different, but also to provide something different to Beauty Gala readers. Marcelle® Lux Gloss
Marcelle® Lux Gloss delivers long lasting color with an ultra-metallic finish. This lip gloss also offers an instant plumping effect, and adds volume to your lips with a unique Vita-Lip complex, a combination of lipopeptid-based amino acids proven to stimulate collagen production and provide optimum hydration. These lip glosses are hypoallergenic and perfume free. The result is smooth, hydrated, plumper lips with rich color.
Upon viewing these lip glosses on the Marcelle website, I was immediately excited to receive this product because the lip gloss looked ultra moisturizing, creamy, and rich in color. I was curious as to how pigmented the shades would be, and how the metallic finish would translate in real life. Let me tell you, I was blown away by these lip glosses. So much so, that I wore them every single day for the week since I have had them.
The color payoff is extremely pigmented and rich – the lip gloss feels like it has the coverage of a lipstick, but with all the benefits of a gloss. Chic Bronze, part of the Lux Gloss Sheer line, added the most gorgeous iridescent copper bronze shine to my lips. It was pigmented enough to change the color of my lips, and sheer enough to be worn with almost any makeup look. Starlet, part of their regular Lux Gloss line, is a gorgeous pink, copper bronze with nude tones to it that make it perfect for wearing with neutral, everyday makeup. The metallic shimmer is unlike any other lip glosses in my collection, commanding the attention to your lips, making them look fuller and healthy. Some lip glosses with metallic shimmer to them feel gritty, but Marcelle was completely smooth, and reminded me of applying a super moisturizing lip balm to my lips.
Marcelle Lux Gloss comes with a doe-foot applicator, for perfect application in just one clean swipe, or for more opaque, rich color in two. I found the formula to be incredibly soft and creamy on my lips, and completely non-sticky which is a big no-no for lip glosses in my book. This lip gloss never feathered or ran down my lips, or on to my teeth, even in the one hundred degree weather South Carolina has been having. For those beauties out there who love lip glosses to provide plumper lips, without the tingle and burn, this is your lip gloss. You can see in the photographs above, when compared with bare lips, these lip glosses make my lips look like they glow from within! The formula makes my lips look full, pouty, and extremely healthy. This lip gloss does not settle into fine lines or feather like some lip glosses do. When I wear this lip gloss, I find myself smacking my lips together often because of how hydrating the formula feels!
Chic bronze and Starlet are two colors that are classic and timeless, and go with a variety of makeup looks. While wearing Starlet with a green eye makeup look over the weekend, I received compliments that my makeup looked “glowing,” and “refreshed.” I can honestly say that very few lip glosses in my collection come close to the Marcelle Lux Glosses in opacity, shimmer, and formula.
Bottom Line: If you are a Canadian resident, or a beauty junkie who loves to collect products from other regions, Marcelle Lux Gloss is a must-have. The lip glosses plump your lips without the tingle, are creamy and rich in pigment, and apply flawlessly with a moisturizing feel.
Marcelle Lux Gloss retails for $10.95 per lip gloss in Canada, and you can find a retail location near you, if you live in Canada.
