I hope you all had an amazing weekend. I had a fantastic time with family grilling outside in the park, miniature golfing, and of course, remembering those who have fought so bravely for our wonderful country, the United States of America! I wanted to share a look I put together using MAC RiRi Woo Lipstick, because red lipstick is sexy. I sometimes feel like I’m repeating myself often when I say that red lips are the ultimate confidence booster for me, but they really make me feel over-the-top bombshell. I think red lips are the new little black dress, and the fun part is that you can even wear your red lipstick with flip flops if you want (I’m guilty this weekend). It’s all about leaving your other makeup quite subtle and letting your lipstick be the star on stage.
For this look, I lined my eyes with a thin line and a cat-flick using Milani’s Eye Tech Liquid Liner. My eyes have a touch of matte brown in the crease for some definition. Other than that, it’s nothing but mascara on my eyes. For my face, I contoured my cheeks and kept the blush to a minimum. The star of the show is MAC Cosmetics RiRi Woo Lipstick. I’ve been singing the praises of this lipstick since I got my hands on it, but it’s seriously my new makeup addiction. The formula is matte and long-lasting.
When I’m wearing RiRi Woo (or any red lipstick), I tend to line just outside my natural lips to create a fuller effect. This lipstick will already help make your lips look gigantic. There’s something very glamorous and sexy about a bright red lip…and you’ll often see Rihanna wear one all the time, even when she’s caught strolling around by the paparazzi.
Since RiRi Woo is sold out until June, if you’re looking for something almost identical, you can go for MAC’s “Ruby Woo.” Otherwise, any blue-based, cool-toned true red lipstick will work wonderfully. I love Revlon’s Matte “Really Red” Lipstick and Wet n Wild’s “Stoplight Red” as affordable drugstore dupes.
You never need a reason to wear red lipstick, unlike a little black dress. You can wear it while you’re running errands or for a special event. If you’re intimidated by trying it or wearing it out, just remember that blue-based, cool-toned reds make your teeth look whiter and work on almost every single skin tone. Like a customized piece of makeup, shades like RiRi Woo will look a little different on everyone, but they will always be flattering.
Red lipstick is the universal language of sexy in the world. Throughout the continents and cultures, you will find people wearing red lipstick and lip color, and it is undoubtedly a universally alluring look. And so, while I did not intend to, I have dedicated an entire post to red lipstick and how much I love it. I hope this helps to inspire you to try red lipstick if you’re intimidated or break out your favorite red shade in your collection and wear it fearlessly. Why?
Red lips are sexy.
