I was originally drawn to MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Cream because of Britney Spears “Hold It Against Me” music video, where she features the product (and this exact shade) in it. Up until then, I assumed that because it was a cream eyeshadow that it would be a creased disaster, like so many other cream eyeshadow products I’ve tried. Inspired by how gorgeous her makeup was in the video, and my previous positive experiences with MAKE UP FOR EVER products, I went ahead and purchased Aqua Cream in #2, which is a metallic silver. Did this product live up to the positive hype? To see a quick review, as well as plenty of photographs and swatches,
In a word, before we begin…YES!
MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Cream is by far the best cream eyeshadow I have ever owned, and it is a dream product.
The texture of this product is super silky and smooth, and you only need to pick up the smallest amount to get amazing color payoff. This shade in particular is designed only for the eyes and cheeks, but MAKE UP FOR EVER has so many Aqua Cream shades that there are shades specifically designed for the lips and cheeks, and shades designed only for the eyes and cheeks.
Aqua Creams are truly such a diverse makeup product, and I am completely smitten with them. You can use these as eyeshadows, eyeshadow bases, highlights, and even as cheek and lip colors. To be able to buy a product that can be used in so many different ways just completely rocks my socks as a beauty addict. You get approximately 0.21oz of product, and since these are so pigmented, it will last you forever. If you look at the above photographs of my own particular jar, you can see it looks like I’ve barely touched mine, when I’ve been wearing mine almost every day.
This product does not crease at all. I seriously think this has some kind of magic dust in it, because every single cream eyeshadow I’ve ever used creases, even when they claim it is budge-proof. I even showered with this on my eyes, and it didn’t smudge or crease at all. Simply use your makeup remover to remove it at night, and admittedly, you may have to use a little extra attention to removing it because it is so budge-proof. I have oily skin and eyelids, and this did not crease, even after twelve hours of wear. You can apply this using your finger or a brush. My only recommendation is to work with this product in a timely manner, because it does tend to set within a minute or two.
