The matte liquid lipstick craze shows no signs of slowing down, with drugstore and bargain beauty companies creating their own affordable versions. The NYX Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks can be found at Ulta Beauty and CVS stores nationwide. Each of them retail for just $6.99USD, and the entire collection is composed of various neutral shades, wearable for anyone and everyone. Of course I had to put a few to the test and see what the formula and wear was like. I think my review may surprise you!
Top to bottom: 07 – Satin Ribbon, 12 – Exotic, 08 – Bedtime Flirt, & 03 – Lace Detail
Each of the NYX Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks has a flat-head applicator. The texture of these liquid lipsticks is more whipped and mousse-like, versus the usual watery texture you see in liquid lipsticks. I actually love the formula because they feel soft and don’t feel like they are drying or cracking on your lips. They dry down quite quickly to a completely flat, matte finish.
SWATCHES:
07 – Satin Ribbon is a very pale nude. It has just a very slight pink tone to it and I think it’s best for fair to light skin tones because of how little pink it has in it. If you’re light-medium to dark, you might find this shade difficult to pull off. I’m going to be honest and say that I really didn’t like this shade against my skin tone. It’s not awful, but it definitely washes me out a little too much for my taste. Also, I found that the paler the shades, the harder it was to get the formula to look nice on the lips. Even with exfoliating and prepping the lips, the very pale shades completely sunk into my lip lines and crevices.
12 – Exotic is a muted brown raspberry shade. It reminds me of the shade your lips would turn when eating a cherry popsicle. What I love about this shade is that it’s essentially a bolder lip color with the volume turned down. It’s classic, sophisticated, and wearable for every day. This was a surprise favorite of mine and the formula was perfection. I really love this shade for daily wear with some winged liner.
08 – Bedtime Flirt is a babydoll pink nude. I love this shade so much because it just gets every single thing correct. It’s not too pink, not too brown, not too pale, not too bright, and the formula is great. It didn’t settle into my lip lines and it enhanced my lip color. This has been a staple of mine!
03 – Lace Detail was a total and complete mess. It is a completely brown based nude and beyond being unflattering, the formulation was all wrong. I honestly didn’t want to include a photograph of this one because it was so gross. It settled into every lip line, crack, and dry spot I had, and this was after I exfoliated and moisturized my lips. I simply could not get it to look right at all, so I would not recommend this shade personally.

My overall thoughts on the NYX Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks is that the formulation really varied on each. “Satin Ribbon” was slightly difficult to work with, but with a little extra time, turned out okay. “Bedtime Flirt” and “Exotic” were perfect in formulation, while “Lace Detail” was a total and utter mess (and loss) for me. I definitely recommend staying away from the very pale shades unless you are willing to really put in the extra work of prepping your lips. In my opinion, there are better brands and shades out there that won’t make your lips look crusty and gross, so I’d pass on a shade like “Lace Detail.”

I love the swatches! Bedtime Flirt might be too light on me so I’m going to get Exotic instead:D
