Sometimes I just feel like playing around with makeup and being artistic. Makeup is my art and I genuinely feel like I am straight out of a Marvel movie with this hair and makeup. It’s incredible how quickly makeup can change your entire look and mood. I purchased NYX Liquid Suede Lipstick in “Stone Fox” this weekend and as soon as I swatched it on my lips, I knew where I wanted to take it. A sultry muted blue-grey, this lipstick shade is bold and edgy. I’ve got the full look inside and plenty of swatches and pictures.
The eye look is simple, but complements Stone Fox well. I brought out my Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette and applied “Tease” into the crease of my eye lightly. It’s a matte muted grey-mauve shade that creates the perfect natural looking shadow to my eye sockets. I also swept this under my lower lash-line. I applied “Suspect” (a light satin grey) all over the eyelid.
I applied a flesh-colored eyeliner in my water-line so my eyes looked large and open. My favorite is MAC Chromagraphic Pencil in NC15/NW20. I applied black eyeliner and flicked it out into a dramatic wing. I used my Tarteist Clay Paint Eyeliner in Black using a Sigma E65 Small Angled Liner Brush to apply it.
My lashes are KoKo Lashes in “102.” I applied them for extra length, but this step is only necessary if false lashes are your thing or you have blonde lashes like I do.
My highlight is Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder in Conceited. This powder blew me away in terms of highlighter. It’s incredibly gorgeous and you will blind people with your highlight!
Now onto the “meat” of the post: NYX Liquid Suede Lipstick in “Stone Fox” which you can see in my swatch above. It’s a complex shade because it can look very different depending on your lighting. Sometimes it looks more blue and sometimes it looks like a dark grey. I’ll show you another swatch, this time taken with my ring light and no flash.
This is how it looks with my ring light and you can see it looks more like a vampy grey shade. It’s really unique and I think it’s one of those shades that a lot of people think they can’t pull off – but they can.
To keep the focus on my lip color, I kept the face makeup all about the contouring and highlighting.
Everything about this look reminds me of Storm from X-Men. I can safely say that I think my subconscious love of X-Men and her inspired this look.
You can purchase NYX Liquid Suede Lipstick in “Stone Fox” at Ulta stores nationwide as well as online here. Each lipstick retails for $6.99USD each, making this a major beauty bargain. All other products are automatically linked to where you can find them.
