The cosmetics industry has recently gone contour crazy. Contouring is nothing new and it has been done for decades now, but as of the last few months more and more makeup companies are putting out their own contour products and kits. Today I have a brand new one for you that can be found at Ulta Beauty and it is an incredible value at only $24.99USD. The NYX Cosmetics Highlight & Contour Pro Palette features 8 powder shades for you to highlight and contour your face with. Each shade is interchangeable and can be replaced by popping it out of the palette. I’ve got full swatches and my thoughts inside!
I expect this NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette to be a hot ticket item. As it was, there was only one left on the display in the store I was in. This is, hands down, the most inexpensive highlight and contouring palette I have seen yet. It costs only $24.99USD and you get 8 huge pans of powder product. Each pan pops out of the palette so you can replace them if you need to.
On the back of the packaging, there is a really handy guide to highlighting and contouring. It tells you exactly where you can apply the shades and how to achieve the famously highlighted and sculpted look that many celebrities rock today.
There are 4 highlight shades and 4 contour shades in the palette. Each pan size is quite large, which impressed me. The pan sizes on this palette are much larger than the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit.
Every single pan pops up and out of the palette, as well. This is a great feature for makeup artists who will be going through a lot of product and will need to replace shades quickly. In fact, I think everything about this palette is brilliant: the price, the shades, the pan sizes, and the replaceable pans.
THE HIGHLIGHTS:
Highlighting is a simple and easy process. In fact, I often use my highlighting shades to set my concealer and foundation. This palette includes 2 white shades and 2 banana shades. I like that they include a nice mix of matte and shimmer here. You can easily sweep the shimmery shades across your cheekbones and use the matte shades to set your cream face products. Every single one of these shades had great pigmentation and color payoff. A tiny bit goes a long way, so you can just barely pop your brush into the product each time. These highlight shades will work on all skin tones except for very dark skin (on which some of the shades may end up looking ashy).
THE CONTOURS:
Contouring is a bit trickier and people feel intimidated by it often. This takes the guesswork out of choosing products and shades to sculpt your face with. Honestly, the best way to find your perfect contour shade is to play with this kit. Typically, the darker your skin tone, the darker you want your contour shade to be. However, there are different tones of contour in this palette, with some of them being warmer or cooler, more brown or more grey toned. I like that it includes different tones because you can mix and match shades to find your ideal color. All of these shades are matte and have great color payoff. These shades will work on every single skin tone from very fair to dark, as well.
Overall, this is one of the best beauty bargains I have seen in months. With large, replaceable pans and a plethora of tones, this highlighting and contouring kit lacks nothing. The price is affordable for everyone.
The NYX Cosmetics Highlight & Contour Pro Palette is brand new and can be found at Ulta Beauty stores nationwide. Each palette retails for $24.99USD, making this a huge steal. Whether you are new to highlighting and contouring or you simply want to add to your makeup collection or kit, this is a high quality set for an inexpensive price.

Do you know if the NYX or probably even Mac blush pan fit in the palette?
