Where do I start on the beauty that is this collection? The NARS Steven Klein Collection is limited edition for the holiday season and it contains the most gorgeously complementary shades in it. I already swatched the lipstick used in this look here, but I also have an eyeshadow and a dual-intensity blush for you today. The look comes together as a modern-day “Marilyn Monroe” inspired face, with shimmer on the eyelids and a bold berry lip. I’ve got the full breakdown for you inside,
NARS Dual Intensity Blush in “Vengeful” is part of the Steven Klein Collection and it breaks every perfection barrier there is. The color is pigmented, opaque, and intense, so a very little goes a long way. You can use the shades separately, with one as a highlight and the other as a cheek color, or you can combine the two together. I obviously applied these very heavily in the swatches above, but you only need the smallest dip of your brush into the product to put down great color.
The shade is a brick red, which is so divine for the fall and winter months. The highlight is a white gold and even more beautiful in person. I used it all over my cheekbones and down the center of my nose for this look. It gives a stunning airbrushed effect.
NARS “Stud” Eyeshadow is a high shimmer pewter shade. At first glance, it looks silver in the packaging, but once you swatch it, you get more of a pewter bronze shade. It has some super intense shimmer and reflects to it, which I think will be perfect for upcoming holiday looks. I like this shade because I think it’s very flattering for just about anyone. It’s highly pigmented and super soft upon application too. I only needed a small amount to get great color payoff.
This makeup look could not be more simple. I used NARS “Stud” Eyeshadow all over my entire eyelid and lower lash-line generously. I also applied it up into the crease of my eyes. What I love about shades like this is that you can use a fluffy blending brush and buff them out in the crease to reveal a whole new shade underneath. Once you buff away the shimmer, the base shade shows through and it looks like you’ve used 2 different eyeshadow colors when you haven’t.
I also applied black gel liner to my upper lash-line and flicked it out into a wing. I applied mascara and added false lashes to the outer corners of my eyes only for a cat-eye look. I really wanted to channel Marilyn Monroe’s signature look and put my own modern day spin on it. She was known for wearing lashes on the outside corners of her eyes only, giving her that sleepy, “bedroom eyes” look.
The reflects in NARS “Stud” Eyeshadow are incredible when they hit the light, and you can see how it looks like I’ve used a brown eyeshadow in the crease when all I did was buff this shade out in the crease only. Most shimmer eyeshadow shades sit in a base, so buffing them out will often give you 2 different colors to work with.
For the cheeks, I used NARS Dual Intensity Blush in “Vengeful” and used the highlighter side to highlight my cheekbones and the center of my nose. It’s such a beautiful combination and the cheek color really goes with everything.
My lipstick is the NARS Steven Klein Killer Shine Lipstick in “No Shame” which is a beautiful bright berry shade. I think using berry and wine shades in place of classic red lipstick is very modern and fun. This combination would be perfect for upcoming holiday parties and events!
I’m a huge fan of this NARS Collection. I think they did an exceptional job with the quality this year. You can purchase the collection online below:
