I am so excited about the launch of the brand new NARS Eye Paints! NARS is, by far, one of my favorite makeup brands and I’m incredibly excited that they are releasing a long-wearing, highly pigmented eye product. I have a few to show you but first up is Tatar, a gorgeous black with loads of purple shimmer in it. It is absolutely stunning and it glows in the light. What I especially love about theseĀ Eye Paints is that you can use them as an overall eyeshadow or as an eyeliner. I love multi-tasking products!

I am a huge fan of cream eyeshadow pigments that are long-wearing. I love the Maybelline “Color Tattoo” Eyeshadow, so when I saw that NARS was releasing their own, I knew I had to try it. They are such a simple product to use because you apply it with a brush or your finger and it dries down quickly into a long-lasting, long-wearing eyeshadow “paint.” It will stay put on your eyelid and there is no fallout or mess like with powder eyeshadow.
Tatar is a black with tons of purple shimmer in it. This is essentially one of my favorite combinations in makeup ever: purple shimmer suspended in a black base. My favorite nail polishes are comprised of the same color formula and this is absolutely spectacular. It’s edgy, bold, sophisticated, and yet it’s also glamorous and feminine.
The product applied wonderfully. It’s extremely creamy and just a little bit of product goes a very long way. These are highly pigmented and rich in color. I decided to put Tatar to the test in an eye look. I used Tatar over my entire eyelid and along my lower lash-line as liner. I applied a lavender purple shimmer in the crease to blend it out and create a contrast against the darkness of Tatar.
It’s absolutely amazing on the eyes. The purple shimmer really comes out, and yet the black base keeps it looking bold and edgy. This color really brings out my eye color, as well. I like putting the brighter, lighter color in the crease and having the darker shade on the eyelid. It creates an intense contrast that is usually reversed on a typical smoky eye.
You can make this look your own by adding black eyeliner to your lower water-line or upper lashes. You can also use Tatar as a liner by itself. I’ll be using it with an eyeliner brush to create a shimmering purple cat-liner flick!
I wanted to also share some of the NARS campaign photographs for the Eye Paints. They are visually stunning:
You can really see how versatile these NARS Eye Paints are. The model above is wearing a thick line on her upper and lower lash-line, giving her the ultimate glamorous rock-star look. These are so fun to play around with!
NARS Eye Paints will be available starting September 1st, 2013 at Nordstrom, NARS Boutiques, and on NarsCosmetics.com. There will be ten shades total to choose from. Each Eye Paint retails for $25.00 USD. I have a couple of other shades to swatch and show you here on Beauty Gala this week, so keep your eyes peeled!
