On New Year’s Eve, I stayed up until 3am EST, waiting for the Morphe “Jaclyn Hill’s Favorites” Eyeshadow Palette to launch. Morphe Brushes has a retail location in California and they also sell inexpensive brushes and palettes online, but Jaclyn Hill (a well-known beauty guru) basically broke the internet. The site was crawling and not working properly so I went to bed and when I woke up in the early morning, I was able to snag one of these. These were in super high demand and they are officially sold out of the palettes until February. I’ve got photographs of the palette, as well as a full tutorial and makeup look for you inside!
This is the coveted Jaclyn Hill’s Favorites Eyeshadow Palette that everyone was going bonkers over. I’ve dipped into many of the shades already and they’re all super pigmented and easy to blend. The best part about this palette and all of the products at Morphe Brushes is the price. Everything is insanely inexpensive and affordable but still has great quality.
HOW TO GET THIS EYE LOOK:
- Apply Shade 1 into the crease of your eye and blend upward, almost toward your eyebrows. Be generous with this color because it’s our transition shade, but we also want it to peek out!
- Apply Shade 2 into the crease of your eye ONLY in a windshield wiper motion. Build this color up by repeating this step several times. Also, apply this shade along the lower lash-line.
- Use Shade 3 in the outer-third of your eye to smoke out the eye look. Also apply this shade to the outer-third of your lower lash-line. Go back with Shade 1 and blend out the entire lower lash-line with this color. The effect is not only smokey, but gives a gorgeous gradient “sunset” effect from purple to orange.
- Apply Shade 4 over the entire eyelid and inner corners of the eyes.
- Pat Shade 5 onto your brow-bone as a highlight and to blend out Shade 1/Step 1 well.
At this point, it’s up to you how dramatic you want the look to be. I added black eyeliner on the water-line and upper lash-line to really make the colors pop. I added false lashes as well. The finished look reminds me of a summer sunset, when the sky softly turns from orange to violet and back again.
THE FINISHED LOOK:
One of the reasons I love this palette so much is because it contains both warm and cool-toned colors. You can mix and match and create such a wide variety of looks. This eye is a great example of a warm AND cool-toned mixed look.
I used a matte foundation so that the eyes would really be the main feature. I did highlight the tops of my cheekbones for a little extra shimmer though. I also used a nude lipstick so that my lips didn’t compete with the eyeshadow.
The Morphe Brushes Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette is currently sold out at Morphe Brushes website, but will be returning again in February! Each palette retails for $27.99USD, making this a major beauty bargain. If you are on the fence about purchasing this palette at all, I would definitely recommend snagging it before it’s gone forever!
