When I heard there was going to be an Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Collection I squealed a little out loud, I’m not going to lie. Pulp Fiction is one of my favorite movies of all time, and the epic female character Mia Wallace has always been a favorite of mine. First of all, we share the same last name (my maiden last name is hers), and second of all, I always loved her hair, makeup, and the way her personality was in the film. Her look is very reminiscent of a pin-up girl but with a 90’s grunge to it. I used my Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Palette and Urban Decay Mrs. Mia Wallace Lipstick to create this look, but you’ll see all the shades inside which you can replicate with shades in your own collection, or you can purchase the collection yourself which is incredibly beautiful. Full details inside of my transformation!
THE MUSE: Uma Thurman as Mia Wallace in Pulp Fiction.
THE TUTORIAL:
Above is the Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Palette. Here is how I created the eye makeup look:
- Apply “Tyranny” in your crease/socket area and generously blend it upward toward your brow-bone. Blend this really well using sweeping motions.
- Apply “Vengeance” to your crease ONLY. This will darken up the crease of your eye to add depth and dimension like Mia Wallace had in the movie. You want to still see Tyranny peek out a bit as a transitional shade.
- Apply “Righteous” over your entire eyelid. The key to this look is to stick with matte shades. Mia’s look was entirely matte, except for a slight satin finish on her brow-bone and inner corners of her eyes.
- Apply “Furious” into the inner corners of eyes and along the brow-bone.
- Apply “Anger” along the upper lash-line and flick this out into a slight wing. Mia has very bold, black eyeliner on that wings out at the end. This will just help us trace a black line for later when we use gel liner.
- Apply “Vengeance” along your lower lash-line lightly and blend out.
To finish off the look, I applied a flesh colored liner on my lower water-line lightly, and then applied a black gel liner to my upper lash-line, flicking it out into a wing. Make sure you use a good gel liner that is a very true black shade. Mia Wallace’s eyeliner is thick, black, and bold! To top if off, I applied mascara to my bottom lashes and wiggled the brush a bit to create a bit of “messiness” along the lower lash-line. I also applied false eyelashes to my upper lash-line so I looked very sultry and seductive, like Mia does in the movie. You want your eyes to look sort of doe-eyed and doll-like, but sexy at the same time.
THE LOOK:
This look is very similar to a pin-up eye makeup look. You can use similar shades in your collection but remember to use all matte shades. Mia Wallace has absolutely no shimmer on her eyes!
I used Urban Decay’s Mrs. Mia Wallace Lipstick from the Pulp Fiction Collection. It’s this absolutely gorgeous bright red that is dripping in saturated color. Super sexy and daring.
Like Mia Wallace’s makeup in the movie, I kept my face quite bare and neutral. She has on absolutely no highlighter or shimmer on her face. I kept my foundation matte, and used a shade that was paler than my current skin tone (since Mia is pale in the movie). I applied matte brown bronzer to the contour of my cheekbones, and that’s all! I left the rest of my face completely untouched…no blush, no highlighter, and no powder.
I don’t smoke, so I used one of my makeup brushes as my “cigarette” like Mia Wallace has in the Pulp Fiction promotional photo’s.
The hair is a cheap wig from a Halloween store! It’s fun to play around with various looks. The hair definitely makes this look even more realistic.
You can purchase the Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Palette here and the Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Lipstick here. Be cool, honey bunny!
