To say I’ve got an affinity for matte lipstick would be an understatement. I love matte lipstick so much that it is pretty much all I’ve been wearing lately, and I love how long it lasts on my lips. I finally got my hands on MAC’s “Flat Out Fabulous” Retro Matte Lipstick, which is permanent in their collection, but often temporarily sold out because it is so popular. It took them about two weeks to finally process and ship my order once some came back in stock, and I’m in love! It’s a fabulous violet-plum shade with absolutely no shine, and it lasts and lasts. It’s a flattering color on just about anyone, so take a look inside,
Flat Out Fabulous is a bright plum matte shade, with MAC’s “Retro Matte” formula. I own a few of their Retro Matte’s, and they tend to be on the drier side because they have no shine. I did think that Flat Out Fabulous was less drying than some of my other shades, though. It lasts on my lips for hours, even leaving behind a stain of the color. It’s a really flattering color on anyone from fair to dark skin tones, and it can be blotted on for a lighter effect or applied heavily to be opaque. I’m loving violet and plum shades, and this one is gorgeous.
It’s amazingly bright, yet flattering. The matte finish keeps it looking sophisticated and not over the top. This is one of those shades that lights up on the skin and makes everything look brighter, especially your eyes.
For reference, I’m usually an NC25 in MAC products. I really enjoy the way this shade looks against my skin tone, hair color, and eyes. It’s perfect for fall and winter, and it’s great for the upcoming holiday season!
Flat Out Fabulous is currently permanent in the MAC Cosmetics Retro Matte Lipstick Collection, and retails for $15.00 USD. You can find it online and at MAC counters nationwide. It does sometimes go out of stock online temporarily because it’s such a popular color, but they will usually ship your product once it comes back into stock (1-2 weeks or so).
