Wet & Wild’s Insomniac Collection is limited edition for Fall 2010, and contains eight gorgeous shades that will adorn your nails beautifully throughout the autumn season. When I finally saw the display at a drugstore, I could not have been more excited, since I had been looking for this collection for almost two weeks. At $1.99 a bottle, these nail polishes are not only affordable, but flat out beautiful on your nails. Let’s get right into the many photographs of swatches, shall we?
The “Insomniac” Collection is limited edition for Fall 2010, consisting of eight varying shades appropriate for the changing weather. The shades range from cremes to glitters, but the shades are consistently dark, and rich, which is what we have mostly been seeing this season.
Black Fog is a dark blue-gray black shade. I realize that sounds very complex and confusing, but this shade really changes color in various lighting. It’s not a pure black creme, and it’s not purely dark blue either. It actually looks like a grayed-out black in cloudy, dim lighting, as well. No matter what color you think this shade is, it is definitely reminiscent of black fog, and actually reminds me of an eery forest at night, where the fog is thick, and the moon’s reflection casts a slight glow onto it.
Blue Jitters is a midnight blue with royal blue micro-glitter in it. The base of this polish reminds me of a jelly and looks very “squishy” to me when worn on the nail. This shade is really pretty for fall because it contains an unexpected pop of micro-glitter to it, whereas we are mostly seeing a lot of dark blue creme’s this season.
Dark Shadow is black with silver glitter in it. The glitter is noticeable in both the bottle and on your nail. This reminds me of a clear night sky when you are in the wilderness and there is no light pollution, making the sky look pitch black. Again, this shade, like the other glitters in this collection, has a “jelly” look to them. This shade also applied slightly sheer at first, and what you see is two coats.
Hypnotic Red is a vampy, muted red. I am just not a red nail polish person, but I actually really love Hypnotic Red. I feel that it works with my skin tone (whereas I don’t usually like them on me), and it is red without being too bold and classic. The shade has more of a vintage-red appeal to it…slightly muted, but still shiny and sexy.
Mystic Blue is a midnight blue like “Blue Jitters” but instead of glitter, it has gorgeous royal blue shimmer in it. The shimmer is quite noticeable, and really makes for a gorgeous dark blue shade this season.
Night Owl is an eggplant purple creme. Shades like this are rampant this season, so while I don’t think this shade was particularly unique for this collection, it is definitely a gorgeous budget-chic option to scoop up the almost-black purple shade trend we are seeing this year.
Sleepwalker is black with orange micro-glitter in it. Halloween, anyone? This has similarities to China Glaze’s “Fortune Teller,” but the orange glitter in this polish is not nearly as chunky. If you missed out on “Fortune Teller” last Halloween, or you’d like a cheaper option, Sleepwalker is a very pretty black-with-orange-glitter nail polish option!
Prowler is black, loaded with bright purple micro-glitter. Of course, I saved the best for last. I love this shade. The purple glitter reflects gorgeously through the black, and looks vampy, sexy, and rockstar all at once. This is my favorite from the collection, and may warrant a back-up bottle purchase from me!
The formula on these polishes was enjoyable for the value Wet & Wild nail polishes give you. The only hinderance I noticed were that a few of the glitters applied somewhat sheer, and needed two coats (all of which you see above is two coats, by the way). None of the polishes were thick or goopy for me, and applied smoothly. Also, be sure to use a topcoat on the glitters, since they dried somewhat matte for me before I applied my topcoat. The topcoat will not only lock in days of wear, but also make the glitter extra shiny.
The Wet & Wild Insomniac Collection retails for $1.99 a bottle, and can be found at drugstores nationwide. I had some trouble finding this collection, and just happened to spot it at a local Rite-Aid, so if you cannot find these, simply keep checking various drugstore displays near you.

Ohhh! I like these!!! I will have to look for them in Wal-mart! If they don’t have them, maybe I could try a Dollar store.
