Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips were released earlier this year and created a flurry of talk around the beauty community. These nail polish strips are made from real nail polish and give you a perfect manicure that requires absolutely no drying time. Not only are they fast and convenient, but they last for up to ten days without chipping. I have personally bought many of the various shades and designs they offer, and I love the formula on this product. They are easy to apply with a little practice, and last for almost two whole weeks without any wear. Not only that, but the designs are incredibly unique, and often a conversation starter. To see photographs of one of my favorite designs they offer, “Frockstar,”
Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips come in a small rectangular container that contains everything you need to create a manicure that requires absolutely zero drying time. Inside you will find enough strips for your ten fingernails, as well as some extra to use as needed for mistakes or to match up more accurately with your nail size. You will also find a small nail buffer and filer inside, as well as a cuticle stick in each kit. These strips are made of real nail polish, so you will actually be able to pick up on a very slight nail polish scent, making these perfect for those who hate the overbearing scent of regular nail polish. In a pinch for a manicure because of a big event? These can be applied in under ten minutes with some practice, and require no downtime for drying.
To Apply: Simply find a strip that matches your nail bed width and size, peel the back off of it, and match the end up with your cuticle. Use the mini nail file to buff the extra long part of the strip that goes over the length of your nail if necessary. Pushing the strip down from the center to the sides ensures a perfect application without any air bubbles or ripples. Also, you will only get one application out of each kit. Since these strips are made out of real nail polish, if you have leftover strips, they will dry up and be unusable for future applications. I learned this the hard way when I opened a sealed package of strips and left them out for a week before using them, as they won’t stick anymore.
Practice makes perfect when applying these strips. You may find the first time you try to apply them that you misjudged your nail size with a nail strip too large or too small, or that when you filed off the extra long part of the strip you filed off too much. Even my application isn’t always 100% perfect to this day (which you can see from the photographs), but it gets easier and you can finish faster each time (and even each nail you do).
The chunky glitter in “Frockstar” reminds me of a birthday cake, or sprinkles!
