Revlon has released a collection called “Scents of Summer” for 2010, and it includes nail colors that are supposed to have a scent to them. I was both raising my eyebrows and intrigued by this type of product, so I bought the color that appealed to me most in the store: Grape Icy. To see more photographs and a short review on this polish,
- Grape Icy is a frosty metallic medium purple. It applied pretty sheer, and the formula was a bit watery. This is three coats, and unfortunately, the problem with layering frost/metallic polishes is that every single stroke and imperfection shows up when your nails hit the light.
This polish had the slightest scent to it, but it was more like a chemical fruity scent. I am not quite sure how I feel about scented polishes in general, as I don’t personally feel anyone should be enticed to go out of their way to sniff nail polish, no matter how safe the company claims it to be. The fact that this polish clearly had almost no scent was a huge turnoff, and it feels like a huge marketing scheme to draw in customers to the polish, especially the younger ones. Overall, the colors in this collection are pretty for summer (I want to go back for Gum Drop, a pastel lilac), however, purchase them because you love the shades, not for their yummy scents!

not crazy about the scent on these, and I don’t know, what kind of person wants their nail polish to smell, I’d rather just wear perfume, the scent isn’t that nice either. I picked up two of these earlier this week, Peach Smoothie and Gum drop, haven’t worn them yet, but they are pretty.

When you try Gum Drop, please let me know how you like the color. I am thinking of going back for it, myself. But yes, I am glad someone else agrees with me on the whole scented nail polish topic!

I bougght five of these including Gum Drop and the scent for some of them are stronger than others. Grape Icy was definitely my fave color but Orange Pop had the strongest scent. The watery formula definitely sucks but I hear that’s the norm for Revlon polishes. I’m working on swatches of them all right now for my blog.
