Well, I did tell you I was going to collect all of the Maybelline EyeStudio Color Explosion Palettes, right? Here are the blues, with Blue Blowout, and it does not disappoint. I am not huge on blue eyeshadow on myself, but let me tell you, these shades are stunning. In fact, I am pretty sure this one is my favorite in terms of shade and color payoff. To see photographs and swatches,
Aren’t the colors gorgeous in this palette? I am usually not one for blues, simply because I don’t necessarily love them against my blue eyes, but this palette is beautiful.
Isn’t the periwinkle amazing? I also was surprised at how well the matte shades applied. I was expecting them to be chalky, but they were super smooth and pigmented. Overall, this palette has high-end quality (like the rest of these palettes), and I am so pleased with this new collection. One of my readers was kind enough to comment that the purple palette, “Amethyst Ablazed,” is a great dupe for the Lancome Color Design Palettes, and she was spot on. I couldn’t quite place what these palettes reminded me of, but she is right on the money, and these are just a fraction of the price! I snagged this palette and the browns for Buy One, Get One 50% Off at my local CVS, and I also had a $5 CVS Beauty Club (which you should definitely join) credit, so I got a fabulous deal on these. Of course, as with all these palettes, I have a look and tutorial coming up using this palette.

New subscriber here! Are the shimmery topcoats in the blue and purple exactly the same?
Rebecca says
Welcome Sarah! They are not exactly the same…the sparkle reflects are slightly different colors in each, but other than that, they are very similar!

I can not wait to see a look for this!

I read two other reviews, with swatches only, and they both complained that the shadow was not very pigmented. I do use an Urban Decay primer. Did you do many layers to get the intensity? Also, can you please do a pictue and tutorial of the Browns and Pinks in this line? I’m having trouble finding them to even buy. Any suggestion? Also, thank you so much for your and tutorials that don’t require 50 other products to be purchased. I will be a frequent visitor to your site from now on!

Hi Angie, and welcome to the site! No, I didn’t do any layers for this look, just used a primer and applied by patting down the color. I do have the brown palette (and use it every day!), but I decided to pass on the pinks since it seemed similar to the purples. I will do a tutorial on the browns coming up!
