L’oreal released a Summer 2010 Collection called Passport to Paradise, which includes these three gorgeous nail polish shades. If you are a nail polish enthusiast, then you may be thinking that this collection looks very similar to Essie’s Summer 2009 collection, “North Fork.” Well, it turns out that L’oreal has acquired the Essie brand, and therefore, it is no coincidence. However, if you missed out on the popular North Fork Collection last summer, these three shades are a great way to get some exact dupes. To see swatches,
- High Tide is a grayish, slate blue with subtle hints of silver shimmer in it. I actually did not see the shimmer in this polish in the drugstore when I bought it, but it makes the shade that much more pretty in my opinion. I like that this hue is a muted blue, and reminds me of the color I painted the walls of my master bedroom. It’s a very soft, soothing color that you don’t often see in blue nail polishes.
- Waters Edge is a bright aquamarine shade that is absolutely gorgeous. I knew I would like this in the bottle, but upon applying it to my nails, the wow-factor was there even more. I did find this shade, along with the other two, to be a bit on the thick side (almost goopy), and in the future I will be adding a drop of nail polish thinner to these before applying.
- Ocean Breeze is a bright medium blue creme that reminds me of the sky on an extremely clear day. This polish reminds me a little bit of Maybelline’s “Pie in the Sky,” with the typical sky blue cremes we have been seeing everywhere this season. This shade is very pretty on the nails, and will definitely stand out.
While the formula on these polishes was slightly thick, it is nothing a drop or two of nail polish thinner cannot fix. I also really loved the brush on these polishes…it coated my nail quickly and easily.
The L’oreal Summer 2010 Passport to Paradise Collection is currently available at local drugstores. Each of these polishes retails for $4.99, however, I purchased these at CVS, where a buy one, get one 50% off promotion on all L’oreal was going on. Many drugstores right now are having these promotions on their cosmetics, so be sure to check your local sales.
