Sometimes, your skin just needs that extra boost, an energy drink for the complexion. Hard Candy Moon Glow Luminizing Powder is meant to be used on your skin to give you a subtle glow, and make your complexion look less dull. You can also use Moon Glow as a highlighter in specific places on your face, such as your cheekbones and temples. To see photographs, swatches, and what I thought of this product,
Moon Glow is a shimmering translucent powder infused with illuminating gold powder. This was released as part of Hard Candy’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection, and it is quite an impressive addition. What I loved about this powder the most, was how luxurious it felt for a Hard Candy product. Typically, Hard Candy leans towards edgy, funky packaging, and with Moon Glow, I feel like the sophistication of the brand is showing through! Everything from the sturdy compact, to the “Hard Candy” brand stamp in the powder screams “high-end.”
This powder also comes with a mirror and a sponge inside of it. Here I was, expecting a typical, mediocre powder puff, when I flipped open the compact…
Love, love, LOVE! I was sincerely pleased when I saw how kitschy and cute the sponge and mirror were. The sponge is a bright pink, heart shape, and says “Hard Candy” on it. The mirror has a cute quote that says, “Get ready. . .Get set. . .GLOW!”
Who will love this product? Anyone whose skin needs a pick-me-up. The golden shimmer in this is subtle, and will not leave you looking like a flat out disco ball. Too Faced Cosmetics makes a product called “Invisible Candlelight” that this is a fantastic dupe for. The overall effect is a soft, subtle “candlelit” glow to your complexion. You can apply this over your entire face to set your makeup, or you can brush this on in specific places only, such as your cheekbones, and anywhere the light hits your features.
For $8, Hard Candy’s Moon Glow is a great buy, especially when a lot of high-end cosmetic companies are creating subtle luminizing powder’s like this one, for a much higher price tag. The packaging shows that a lot of thought went into the product, and the grown-up sophistication shows us that Hard Candy is evolving in a very positive direction. The subtle glow this product gives you reminds me of a romantic, candlelit dinner, where your skin looks soft, supple, and flawless.
