Lookbook: Essie Resort 2010 Collection Swatches

collection

Essie Resort Collection 2010 has been released for the summer, and it consists of four shades. For Essie, these colors are really a huge step in the right direction, as they tend to stick with very sheer, neutral colors. I was so anxious to receive these at my doorstep that as soon as I opened the package, I swatched them so I can share the gorgeousness. To see swatches,

The Mini 4 Piece Collection

I decided to go with the mini 4 piece collection this time, as I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this collection or not. And, with having so many nail polishes, I want to start using all my nail polishes up. After swatching these, I am head over heels with this collection.

  • Playa Del Platinum is a sheer sandy gray. It applies very sheer at first, and this was three coats on my nails. I did find it to be a little bit goopy once I built the color up. Overall, I like this shade, but my heart definitely lies with the brights for spring and summer.

  • Lapis of Luxury is a bright ocean blue creme. I actually had to look up what lapis was, and found out it is a relatively rare, semi-precious gemstone that is prized for its intense blue color. So, besides the fun fact, I’d say Essie named this polish appropriately as it is the most gorgeous intense ocean blue.

  • Splash of Grenadine is described by Essie as a playful magenta pink, but I think it is more of a muted magenta. It reminds me of a gorgeous antique piece of clothing or jewelry you find that is a bit dusty. It is absolutely unique and I absolutely love the color because I think the antique-look to it makes it perfect for all four seasons.

  • Turquoise & Caicos is the winner of the collection in my opinion. It is the most gorgeous bright tropical aqua and I can envision myself wearing this to the pool this summer.

The Essie Resort 2010 Collection retails for $8.00 a bottle, and $17.00 for the mini 4 piece collection at Essie Online. You can also purchase this collection in stores at Ulta.

The laya Del Platinum looks gorgeous! It reminds me of their Mink Muffs or Chinchilly
