Celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann is known for her glitter nail polish, after taking a risk back in the fall of 2009 by creating a copper flecked fudge sparkle nail polish known as “Superstar.” The response for her show-stopping, gorgeous glitter nail polishes was so positive that she continued to create gorgeous, avant-garde, widely loved glitter nail polishes throughout the seasons. Deborah says she was manicuring Lady Gaga’s nails for a photo shoot when she thought to herself, “What would Gaga do?” The result was Bad Romance, a blackened fuchsia with edgy flakes of pink-purple that reflect Lady Gaga’s signature bold style. To see plenty of photographs and swatches of this beautiful nail polish,
Bad Romance has a black base, with chunky flakes of fuchsia-purple glitter in it. The result is moody, provocative, and very sexy, and definitely reflects Lady Gaga’s signature style. I love that the name of this nail polish is Bad Romance, because I really feel that there could not be a more perfect shade for the song.
The glitter in this polish is fantastic since the size of it varies. You have chunky sequin-like glitter, and smaller flakes built in, making the result on each fingernail unique.
The formula on Bad Romance was fantastic. The black base does apply somewhat sheer at first, so you will need 2-3 coats of polish to get the effect you see above. The glitter dispersed very evenly on each of my nails, which I was very surprised at. Typically, polishes with varying sizes of glitter in them tend to either be too thick and chunky, or the glitter does not dispense evenly on your nails. Deborah Lippmann did a fantastic job with the formula on this nail polish. With a top coat, my nails glowed with an edgy purple sparkle, and the compliments have been plentiful!
Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish retails for $16-$20, and can be found at high end stores such as Nordstrom, Barneys New York, and Neiman Marcus. You can also browse and purchase her many breathtaking shades online through her online shop. There, you can see her original top-selling shade “Superstar,” as well as “Happy Birthday,” which is another beloved shade described as “party in a bottle.”
Deborah Lippmann recently released two new polishes for Holiday 2010, a silver-blue glitter called “Today Was A Fairy Tale,” (Taylor Swift, anyone?), and a gold glitter called “Boom Boom Pow,” both of which contain diamond and 24k gold powder in them!

I like that ‘Bad Romance’ says party nails instead of goth/emo. I love purple and black nail polish but that doesn’t mean I wear all black clothing and listen to Paramour…or whatever they listen to these days. I’m not down with kids! lol
