When Sunday night hits, I tend to feel a little bummed because the weekend is over and the blue’s can kick in. Last night, the hubby suggested we get out and just cruise around to some drugstores just to get some fresh air and also to see if I could find any new releases. I found a huge display from Wet n Wild which is part of of their limited edition Walgreens only Fall 2014 collection. I grabbed a boatload of palettes and lipsticks from them, mostly because Wet n Wild has some of the best prices ever for the quality. I bought 4 palettes total and I’m going to be featuring them today individually. I’ll give you my swatches and thoughts on each. First up, Angels in Aubergine!
Angels in Aubergine features 5 eyeshadow shades, like all of the palettes I’ll be swatching from this collection. This is a dramatic palette of shades, ranging from your metallic silver and burgundy to your matte jet black and hot pink.
I’ve heard some bloggers and makeup enthusiasts say that they’ve felt Wet n Wild’s quality has been slipping as of the last year. I have to be honest, I think this palette (and the rest I bought) have fantastic pigmentation and for the most part, that velvety smooth feel to them. The only shade that gave me a bit of a hard time was that bottom shimmering silver shade, and that was only because it wasn’t as soft as the others.
You can see for yourself that the pigmentation is there. I do think Angels in Aubergine will appeal to a specific type of eyeshadow wearer because of the shades in it, but the quality is quite good. This is a great palette for a smokey eye, especially if you’re on a budget. The addition of the pink and metallic burgundy add that funky pop of color.
Each Wet n Wild Eyeshadow Palette retails for $3.99 USD and can be found exclusively at Walgreens stores nationwide. If you haven’t found them yet, don’t despair! I have only seen the display at one of my local Walgreens so far and when you do find it, you cannot miss it because it is huge (and you will see Halloween items with it). For the price of these palettes, you just can’t find a better beauty bargain. It’s a great way to play with color without the commitment to your wallet.
