After all, who doesn’t loveĀ quality and an inexpensive price tag? Jordana 12hr Made To Last Eyeshadow Pencils are my favorite beauty bargain of 2013 so far. These eyeshadow pencils go on as a cream, smooth as butter, and set to a long-lasting, water-resistant, crease-proof finish. Several years ago, I was enamored with the NYX Jumbo Pencils, which are similar to these, only those creased very easily if you didn’t set them with a powder eyeshadow on top. These are similar in formula, except they don’t budge or crease on your eyes. I LOVE them. Even while I was swatching these, it took a good scrub to get the swatches off my skin! If you’re looking for a major beauty bargain, you are going to want every single one of these.
These all have a chunky pencil-like applicator. You can apply directly to your eyes like a big crayon, or you can dab your makeup brush onto the product. It gives you really great ease of applying the product. Also, there are so many different uses for these from eyeshadow to liner to highlighter! Let’s get to swatches:
04 – Continuous Almond: This is a matte off-white beige shade. This is the perfect shade for applying into the lower water-line for that really awake look. It’s also fantastic as a matte brow-bone highlighter.
02 – Stay-On Black: This is your typically matte black shade. Perfect for layering with metallic and shimmering eyeshadow shades, if you apply this underneath, your shade will show up brighter and truer to color. This also doubles as an eyeliner and crease shade.
05 – Pink Evermore: This shade is like a fairy princess pink with loads of high-impact shimmer in it. It’s extremely pretty when it’s applied. This would make a beautiful all-over lid shade!
01 – Eternal White: This is a matte white shade that is awesome for layering. If you’re working with pastels or neon eyeshadow shades, go ahead and apply this underneath to make your colors truer. This is also a good lower water-line liner for that 60’s look.
03 – Tenacious Brown: A matte dark brown that makes an excellent crease shade for smoking out other colors. I used this in my crease and outer eye several times to create a smoky eye.
06 – Aqua Last: This is labeled as a matte and it kind of is, but it has a metallic finish…so it’s a matte-ish metallic blue? However you want to describe this, it is STUNNING. Super bright, super pigmented, and gorgeous for those who love adding a pop of color to their eyes.
07 – Prolong Purple: Yes, yes, I know I am a purple lover, but this is my favorite shade of the bunch. It’s an extraordinary royal purple with loads of shimmer in it. It’s so rich and regal and would make the perfect eyelid shade.
08 – Endless Emerald: Another gorgeous jewel-toned shimmer in the bunch, this one packs a pure emerald punch. I love this for the fall season coming up. This is a really on-trend shade right now that looks great on every eye color.
Altogether, these were pure perfection. I couldn’t find a single thing I didn’t like about them. They were extremely rich and saturated in color. They needed one swipe to put down really true color.
Even better, these stay PUT! I was worried that these would crease and smudge all over, but they don’t budge, even when you try to wipe them off. I wiped them off with my usual makeup remover wipes and this is what happened:
They budged ever so slightly, but barely at all. I love that. Long-lasting, crease-resistant, water-proof eyeshadow shades that are pigmented AND inexpensive? It’s a makeup artists’ dream.
I did a very quick look using Endless Emerald on my eyelid and Tenacious Brown in the crease. I blended out the socket and added mascara. I did this in less than sixty seconds! It was fast, easy, and the shades blended beautifully. One thing to keep in mind is that because these are so budge-proof, you want to work fairly quickly once you apply these to the skin, especially if you plan on blending them out.
So what have we learned? Run, don’t walk to your nearest Walgreens and add these to your collection. You won’t regret having a high quality, multi-tasking makeup product in your collection, especially at this price point.
