It’s been a bit hard getting back into the routine of blogging after the craziness of Thanksgiving and family, but I’m back! I have so many gorgeous beauty items to review and swatch for you, and I am very excited to be back in the swing of things. First up, this beautiful Laura Mercier Mini Lip Glacé Collection, which contains four glistening shades of lip gloss and would make the perfect gift. I’ve noticed myself, personally, how much more I’ve been using lip gloss versus lipstick as the weather has gotten cold and my lips get drier and more likely to chap. Inside, I’ve got swatches and my thoughts on this collection.
This set includes Laura Mercier’s bestselling lip glosses: Bare Beige, Baby Doll, Rose, and Blush. These are super conditioning feeling on the lips. I was actually blown away by how similar to lip balm these feel when they are actually applied. My lips tend to get chapped and dry easily, so wearing these has been a blessing. I love that they are not sticky in any way, and they also have a very pleasant scent to them. They almost smell like a mixture of vanilla and almond, and it’s not too strong or too synthetic smelling. The shine on these is incredible when paired with how moisturizing they are. I’d easily say that if every lip gloss had this consistency and formula, there would be no need to ever reformulate!
The Swatches:
Bare Beige is a nude-brown shade with extremely fine shimmer in it. When you look at the container, you can spot the shimmer, but on the actual lips it doesn’t really show up much, which I think is actually a good thing because this nude shade is wonderful. I thought it might lean too much on the brown side for my skin tone, but it’s perfect. It’s really the ideal nude lip gloss for when you have a very colorful or dramatic eyeshadow look going on.
Baby Doll is the quintessential pink lip gloss. It’s light in color, semi-sheer, and has a ton of really pretty shimmer in it. This would work great by itself, but it would also impart a wonderful shimmer and shine over top of another lip color. This is a very doll-like pink as the name suggests, and actually reminds me of my first lip glosses that I used to play with as a kid.
Rose is a stunning rosy pink shade with plenty of gold shimmer in it. Gor-geous. This shade can be worn on the sheer side or built up to have more color. This is a really great universal shade that flatters absolutely anyone, no matter what skin tone you may have. I wasn’t expecting to love this one as much as I did, but alas, I think this one is my favorite of the bunch!
Blush is a pale pink-nude shade that has very fine shimmer in it. Like “Bare Beige,” you can see the shimmer in the container, but not so much on the actual lips. This is a really beautiful pale pink shade that would top off a smokey eye wonderfully. This is actually quite similar to “Bare Beige” but leans less brown and more on the pink/mauve side.
Overall: Each lip gloss is 0.1oz, and you receive four of Laura Mercier’s bestselling lip gloss shades. If you’re someone who likes variety, you’ll love this set. This would also make a great gift to someone who loves beauty products, because every color in this set is very universally flattering. The lip gloss is non-sticky, pleasant smelling, and puts down sheer but buildable color.
Laura Mercier’s Mini Lip Glacé Collection retails for $38.00 USD. The set is limited edition for Holiday 2012, and can be purchased at Sephora stores nationwide, as well as online at Sephora. Click the link below to browse and purchase:
