I picked up the Covergirl “Go For The Golds” Eyeshadow Quad while admiring their Star Wars display. I realized it was a part of their permanent line, so I wanted to show you how gorgeous this palette is and how you can achieve a really luxurious, high-end looking golden smoky eye using it. I also used one of my newest favorite lip colors, Colourpop’s “Aquarius” Lippie Stix, which is super inexpensive and natural looking. Details after the jump,
TO ACHIEVE THIS EYE LOOK:
- Apply Shade 3 into the crease of your eye and generously blend this upward toward your brows. Also apply this shade along your lower lashes.
- Go back with Shade 4 and apply this into the crease of your eye only and also along the outer-third of your eye, smoking it out to create depth. Apply this dark brown to the outer-third of your bottom lashes, too, so that the upper and outer corners of your eyes have that smoky dimension to them.
- Apply Shade 2 to your eyelid generously using a patting motion. Go back with Shade 4, as needed, to blend everything out.
- Using Shade 1, apply this to the inner corners of your eyes for a pop of bright, light shimmer.
How you continue this look is up to you. I added black eyeliner to my lower water-line only for some contrast. I curled my lashes and applied mascara. You can add a gold or bronze eyeliner to your lower water-line instead and that’d be absolutely stunning too!
The eyeshadow quad really performed well. The shades were pigmented, soft, not powdery, and easy to blend. It honestly has the same quality as a high-end eyeshadow quad, so this is a great beauty bargain if you are into gold and bronze shades.
For my lips, I used Colourpop’s “Aquarius” Lippie Stix. This has been a staple in my beauty routine lately and it only costs $5.00USD. It’s very true to my natural lip color but makes them look fuller and healthier.
I’ve also been loving the new Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation. It’s classified as a “hydrating matte” formula and though that often seems like an oxymoron in the makeup world, it actually is both. It gives me a lovely smooth finish that still looks natural.
I hope you enjoyed the look and my suggestions for some affordable but high quality makeup items I’ve been loving recently.
