When I think off the top of my head what my most used palettes are, they are almost always neutrals. Sure, I love to wear colorful, bold shades on my eyes, too, but you can never go wrong with neutral eyeshadow. Neutral eyeshadow can be dressed up, made to look super smokey, sexy, and dramatic, or worn just to contour and accentuate your features. The Smashbox Image Factory Eyeshadow Palette in Muse is a six eyeshadow palette that contains the hottest “it” colors of the season. Right now, it is all about smokey browns, chocolate, rust-colored burgundy, and champagne golds. I love every single shade in this palette, and as soon as I opened it, I knew it would become a mainstay on top of my vanity where I do my makeup every day. To see swatches,
The limited edition fall 2012 Smashbox collection contains two eyeshadow palettes: Muse and Icon. This palette is much more warm-toned than Icon is, which I really like, because warm eyeshadow colors complement my skin tone.
From top left to bottom right: Russet, Truffle, Bare, Juniper, Sandstorm, Sumatra.
What I love most about this palette is that every single color is wearable and functional. I own a lot of eyeshadow palettes, admittedly, where I fall in love with just a few of the colors, and the rest go untouched. It always sparks my interest when I see a palette that I know I will use and try every single shade in. The eyeshadow is so pigmented, and so soft…like velvet. You just can’t ask for better quality when it comes to eyeshadow. There is also a nice mix of shimmer and matte shades in this palette which a lot of you will love!
The feeling of these are just so soft to the touch and very easily blend-able. They are highly pigmented, so a little bit goes a long way. The palette isn’t extremely “matchy-matchy,” which is great for branching out with neutral eyes. I often find myself reaching for the same shades that are obviously a perfect marriage, rather than reaching for shades that look a bit different but will still make for a gorgeous neutral eye look. The blend of shimmer and matte is great for someone who wants to be able to reach for this palette for the office, as well, since matte eyeshadow is very sophisticated and professional for a workplace.
The palette comes with a small double-ended brush which can be used to apply the eyeshadow. I will probably end up using the smaller end to apply the dark chocolate shades close to my lash-line for definition. You can never have enough brushes to work with!
Overall, this is an excellent showing by Smashbox for the fall season! The six eyeshadow shades are pigmented, soft, and luxurious. The neutral shades appeal to just about everyone, and there is a beautiful blend of matte and shimmer shades. The Smashbox Image Factory Eyeshadow Palette in Muse is limited edition for fall 2012 and retails for $39.00 USD.
