I love Essie nail polish. I’ve had a love affair since they had mostly all neutral shades that were chic, sophisticated, timeless, and a staple for brides everywhere on their wedding day. Since then, the brand has really evolved by creating lush brights that really pop on the nails. The Essie Spring 2012 Collection has a little bit of something for everyone with pastels, a neutral, and rich brights. To see swatches of the entire collection,
The Essie Spring 2012 Collection contains six nail lacquers. What I like about this collection is the mix of powerful brights and toned down pastels. Every collection that has a mix of finishes and types of shades usually draws me in. Let’s look at each color in this beautiful collection…
Orange, It’s Obvious! is a beautiful, bold, bright tangerine creme. Since tangerine has been deemed the “it” color this year by Pantone, we’ve seen this shade in just about everything. What I like about this tangerine is that it’s not a neon but it is extremely bold and outspoken on your actual nails. I love it. This one had great opacity and only needed two thin coats.
Ole Caliente is described as a scarlet, but it’s definitely a bright coral-based red. I didn’t detect it being a pure red when I applied it, as it almost has a hot-coral appeal to it. It’s stunning, and the formula was very opaque. This one is so shiny and sexy on the nails!
A Crewed Interest is a lovely pale peach creme. This is the ideal color for a wedding or even for the office if you need to maintain a low-key, sophisticated style. It makes your fingers and toes look much tanner and miles long. This shade required three coats, but it was well worth it. I love how timeless a shade like this is. This is, after all, what Essie does best!
Tour de Finance is an incandescent fuchsia pink that glows bright blue/violet. This is a gorgeous shade that will have everyone looking at your fingers, and the extra incandescent pop just adds to the beauty of this polish. This one applied well in just two coats.
Navigate Her is a dusty mint green. This is the perfect example of a shade that has become very trendy and popular in the past couple of years. Mint green and “dusty” green polishes are everywhere now. It really is a lovely color, and it is light enough to not be loud. The formula requires three coats, though, so a little patience is necessary.
To Buy or Not To Buy is a lilac shimmer that glows bright aqua. Love, love, love. I’m a purple lover so of course I am going to adore this shade. I love the subtle but still noticeable blue shimmer it has in it when it hits the light. This was a bit on the thin side, so you’ll need three coats for perfectly opaque coverage. Another great pastel shade that is perfectly pretty and still demure.
