Happy Independence Day! I received the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips yesterday that I ordered and I knew I was going to have to swatch and review them here for you over the weekend. These released some time last week and the website completely crashed and people were going crazy (they are only $6.00USD EACH!). I somehow managed to snag six of them. They are completely sold out right now but WILL be restocking them, so keep an eye out. Check out my thoughts and swatches inside!
The ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip is basically the same product that everyone has been coveting lately: a liquid lipstick that dries down to a matte, flat finish that doesn’t budge. The problem is, ColourPop has really amazing pigmentation and products and these retail for only $6.00USD each. They are most definitely one of the most inexpensive matte lip products out there right now. They are currently out of stock because they sold out on the website, but ColourPop has promised that they are restocking and there will be plenty for everyone!
Each matte lipstick has a doe-foot applicator for precise application. These have a slightly watery formulation, but they dry down completely matte within just thirty seconds. I do like that the formulation isn’t thick, because one of the problems I have with these ultra-pigmented matte lipsticks is how quickly they dry. Some of them dry way too fast and can be a real pain to correct if you make a mistake when applying it. The formulation is pretty much perfection in that you can easily line your lips with the product, apply it, and have time to correct any mistakes before the product completely dries and sets.
SWATCHES:
Trap is a grey-nude shade. This reminds me a lot of L.A. Splash “Ghoulish” and similar “greige” lip colors out there. It very much reminds me of the 90’s and has a vampy appeal to it, though it’s not dark in color. I love this one and I’ve been wearing it on the regular.
Donut is a medium yellow pink shade. It’s not neon or so bright that it could be called fuchsia, but it’s a very wearable pink. Again, the formulation is amazing and this shade will look fantastic on a wide variety of skin tones.
Bumble is a berry-mauve shade that has muted undertones to it. This is sort of the “Kylie Jenner” shade that is going around right now with MAC’s Whirl Lipstick and Lip Pencil. It’s a classic shade and will transition well into fall and winter.
Pacific is a bright coral that almost looks orange. This one is stunning and I love how unique it is. It’s a neon coral shade but looks orange because it’s so bright. It’s great for babes with blue eyes because it will make them look super blue. I love this shade for the summertime.
Ouiji is a hot fuchsia pink. This is a very true neon fuchsia pink and it’s beautiful. If you love hot pink lip shades, you can’t pass this one up.
Lychee is a bright cool-toned purple shade. L-O-V-E. I adore everything and anything purple, so of course I love this shade. It’s bold and it’s edgy. If you feel confident pulling off a lip color like this, I highly recommend this shade.
Top to bottom: Trap, Donut, Bumble, Pacific, Ouiji, Lychee.
Overall, I cannot sing enough praises about these. When ColourPop restocks these, I expect there to be another influx of madness on the website because for $6.00USD each, you just can’t beat the quality and pigmentation of these.
ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips will be restocked sometime in the future on their website. Keep tabs on them via their Instagram for updates. Each lipstick retails for $6.00USD with free shipping offered at $30.00USD. Don’t forget to check out their other products too…they are an AMAZING cosmetics brand!
