The China Glaze Cirque du Soleil Collection is inspired by the new Cirque du Soleil 3D movie coming out at the end of December. I’ve never seen Cirque du Soleil live, and I’ve always wanted to because the colors and textures are just so visually stimulating. This collection is definitely no slouch when it comes to some very gorgeous, bright, and unique shades. Inside I’ve got swatches of six of the polishes from this brand new collection,
Running in Circles is a metallic, shimmering dark green. This is actually very festive for the Christmas season, and it has a ton of fine light green shimmer in it. It’s a gorgeous green shade that will be perfect for St. Patrick’s Day in March, too! This is super opaque and applies beautifully in just two coats, as well.
Def Defying is a bright lime green creme. It’s not a true neon, but it is very bright, and it’s definitely one of those “so gross it’s pretty” looking shades. I’m oddly attracted to this shade, but unfortunately it gives me major “lobster fingers,” making my skin look really red when it’s not. This shade reminds me of the slime from Nickelodeon! If it didn’t bring out so much red in my fingers and skin, I’d be much more likely to wear this shade.
Whirled Away is a multi-flecked top coat with black and white pieces in it. It contains long, thin confetti pieces, as well as larger hexagonal black and white pieces in it. I wanted to love this one so much, I really did, but the pieces inside the polish were hard to get out, leaving me with far too much clear topcoat and not enough of the pieces inside. This will look pretty layered over another polish, as long as you’re aware that you probably won’t get a ton of the pieces inside out at once.
It’s A Trap-eze! is a pale pastel blue with tons of bright pink, blue, yellow, and silver glitter in it. This is definitely one of the standout polishes in the collection because it’s so unique and gorgeous. It applies beautifully in just two coats, and the glitter comes out really even and looks stunning. This is essentially a birthday party on your nails. The fact that formula on this was so smooth and such a pleasure to apply really made this one a favorite. I don’t have another polish in my entire collection that is quite like this one, and I know I’ll be wearing this one a lot!
Escaping Reality is a hot neon pink. This one actually dries matte like a true neon nail polish, and will need a nice top coat to turn it shiny again. You can’t go wrong with a neon hot pink like this one for the warmer months. The formula on this was ever so slightly sheer, so you’ll want to go with three coats to make sure this is fully opaque.
Surreal Appeal is a coral-salmon colored pink creme. I honestly think this shade is destined to be a huge hit because it’s so universally flattering on all skin tones, and it still has a very soft, classic, feminine vibe to it. This reminds me of a less neon version of “Flip Flop Fantasy” from China Glaze a couple of years ago, which was a huge hit among nail polish fans. This is a gorgeous color that lights up your complexion and gives you a soft, ethereal glow, even if you’re completely pale in the dead of winter. This shade applied beautifully in just two coats, and definitely wins as my favorite along with “It’s a Trap-eze!”
Overall: A gorgeous collection from China Glaze that has a unique variety of shades and textures. The entire collection contains twelve polishes, so be sure to check out the other six I am missing if you like what you see!
