As we saw with the “I’m Getting Sunburned” eyeshadow palette in our last post, this Wet n Wild eyeshadow palette has amazing pigmentation and will hold up nicely on your eyes. Most people would look at these 3 shades together and think they don’t go together in any way, shape, or form. The shades in this trio, however, are very complementary, and go together beautifully for a soft look. I switched up the application a little bit from how the eyeshadow is labeled in the packaging for a slightly different effect. For instructions,
I’m Getting Sunburned is already labeled for tips on where to stick each shade, but rather than “color within the lines,” I decided to switch the shades up just a tiny bit for a different look. As with every eye look, you are going to need three brushes: an eyeshadow brush, a pencil crease brush, and a fluffy blending brush.
I’m Getting Sunburned Look Instructions:
- Apply the bronze (bottom shade) over your entire eyelid, packing down the color.
- Using your pencil crease brush, swipe the light pink (top shade) in a windshield wiper motion into your crease, swiping it about 3/4 in to your inner eye.
- Apply the dark brown (middle shade) to the outer 1/3 of your eye in a sideways “V” shape. The shape you would want for your left eye would look like this: <
- Take your fluffy blending brush, and lightly blend out the dark brown “V” you just created on the outer third of your eye. Swirl upward just slightly, and blend out any harsh lines.
- Go back and apply the pink shade in your crease once again, to brighten this pop of color. You can also reapply the bronze over your eyelid if necessary.
- Apply the bronze eyeshadow to your bottom lash line.
- Line your upper lash line and lower waterline (both optional) with black eyeliner, curl your lashes, and apply mascara.
The effect is different than the usual bronze over the eyelid, and dark brown in the crease. The light pink is wonderfully complementary to the bronze on your eyelid, and they both help the other pop more on your eye. The pink opens your eyelid, making your eyes look larger and more awake. The dark brown adds definition to the outer part of your eye, with a rich smokiness that pulls that entire look together.
The best part about this look? It will make all eye colors pop like crazy! It made my blue-green eyes really sparkle and stand out, and it would have the same effect on any eye color.
I’m Getting Sunburned can be used in many various ways, not just the look pictured here. You could use it traditionally, applying the bronze shade to your eyelid, the dark brown in the crease, and use the pink as a highlighter for your brow-bone and inner corners of your eyes. Or, you can simply use these colors alone by themselves. No matter what way you choose to wear this palette, you’re getting incredible color payoff with every swipe.
Wet n Wild “I’m Getting Sunburned” Palette retails for $2.99 at Walgreens and Walmart stores nationwide, and is part of their brand new 2011 product line.
