The Sephora Hello Kitty Collection is limited edition and exclusive to Sephora online. With two Say Hello palettes in the collection, “Happy Fun,” and “Super Fun,” we once again see how playful and adorable the products in this collection are. Each of the two palettes has two tiers, with four eyeshadows on the first tier, and four glosses on the second tier. Enclosed in an incredibly chic and fun Hello Kitty face, this palette is sure to gather plenty of compliments. Did the products live up to the novelty?
The Happy Fun color palette is enclosed with a pastel pink bow. The packaging is very similar throughout the entire collection with Hello Kitty’s face adorning the metallic silver packaging.
These palettes are showstoppers on the outside. With a Hello Kitty head slightly larger than the size of your palm, you have a two-tiered palette with four eyeshadows and four lip glosses. The Hello Kitty head has an opalescent sheen to it, with Hello Kitty’s bow being pure metallic, reflective silver.
Happy Fun eyeshadow colors include: a shimmering light green, an earthy medium green, a gray taupe, and a dark brown.
The eyeshadow shades in this palette are quite earthy and pretty, and I am happy to report that they were very soft and pigmented. Apparently, these eyeshadows are made with strawberry, apple, and grape seed extracts, to help fight free radicals and improve skins youthfulness. I was definitely expecting the eyeshadow in this palette to be sheer and very unimpressive, so this was a pleasant surprise.
Happy Fun lip gloss colors are made up of pinky-mauves and neutrals. Here is where the review goes south, however. None of these glosses have much color or pigmentation to them at all. If you were expecting color out of these glosses, you aren’t going to get any. These glosses are non-sticky, and have a sweet smell to them, making them pleasant to wear, but they are definitely more of your lip balm type of glosses, rather than for any type of color.
Above are the four glosses in the Happy Fun palette, swatched on the back of my hand, and as you can see, none of them puts off any more than a little sheen, or slight color. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, since these are very moisturizing, and will make your lips feel smooth, supple, and hydrated…but they aren’t going to finish your look with any color.
Bottom Line: The Happy Fun palette is a must-have for Hello Kitty aficionado’s with its one-of-a-kind packaging. The four eyeshadows are soft and pigmented, but the four lip glosses have nearly no pigment whatsoever, and are more of the lip balm variety than actual lip glosses.
