I used my brand new Too Faced Cosmetics “Pretty Rebel” Palette to create this smoky blue eye look. I don’t wear blue a lot on my eyes, but when I do, I prefer a deep, sparkling, metallic navy blue. It’s extremely flattering and sophisticated and looks a little different than your average silver and black smoky eye. I’ve got the full tutorial and more photographs inside,
Above is the Too Faced “Pretty Rebel” Eyeshadow Palette. I marked the eyeshadow shades I used as a guide:
- Apply shade “1” to the socket of your eye. This is a deep matte brown shade. I applied it using a precise blending brush and blended it upward.
- Apply shade “2” to your eyelid and lower lash-line. You can apply this wet for a more dramatic look, as well.
- Apply shade “1” back into the crease of your eye, blending out the blue. I went back and blended all the edges out again so there is a smooth transition from blue to brown.
- Apply shade “3” to the outer third of your eye. Use a blending brush to very lightly buff this sparkling black shade out. We want the intensity to stay but the edges to be blended out. You can also add this to the outer part of your lower lash-line for a smoky look.
- Apply shade “4” to your brow-bone and inner corners of your eyes. This is a matte shade that will tie everything together.
I applied black eyeliner (Urban Decay’s “Perversion”) to my lower water-line and tight-lined my upper lash-line, as well. Apply your favorite mascara and you’re set! Feel free to use similar shades in your collection to recreate this look. I do have to say that this Too Faced palette is amazing, though. The colors are so pigmented and easy to work with!
The effect is a dark metallic blue that transitions to a matte dark brown. The outer corners of the eyes are smoked out with the sparkling black shade.
It’s an eye makeup look that anyone can wear. It’s extremely flattering because the blue is very metallic and dark. You can see my swatches of the Too Faced “Pretty Rebel” Eyeshadow palette here.
