I’ve had my eye on this palette since the day it was released. The BH Cosmetics Hollywood Eyeshadow & Blush Palette is a California-themed palette that is travel-friendly and compact enough to fit into the palm of your hand. BH Cosmetics released a trio of California inspired palettes, including “San Francisco,” “Malibu,” and this one. The best part is that these palette are only $11 and offer you 16 eyeshadow shades and 4 blushes. Hollywood was the one that caught my eye the most because of the mixture of matte and shimmer shades, as well as the bright colors. Inside I’ve got gorgeous swatches and plenty of photographs of this palette!
The Hollywood Palette is small enough to fit into the palm of your hand since everything closes up via flaps. This makes it perfect for bringing with you on-the-go or if you’re traveling because it doesn’t take up a ton of room. Also, the packaging gets major pretty points because it’s so bright and in my opinion, perfectly captures the essence of Hollywood.
When you first open the palette, there are two flaps with eight eyeshadow shades each. The left side of the palette is composed of metallic shades, bright pinks, a coral, and a matte red. The right side of the palette is composed of yellows, violet purples, blues, and lime greens.
The first four eyeshadow shades on the left side of the palette had great pigmentation. The matte red and black performed well.
The last four eyeshadow shades on the left side were also gorgeous and pigmented except for that matte coral shade, which is a major bummer because it’s so gorgeous. I think it would work better with a white base on your eyelid first.
The first four shades on the right side of the palette are stunning. They are super rich in color and soft. I love the combination of yellows and golds with bright violet shades.
The last four shades on the right side of the palette are more winners! These are bright and bold and absolutely amazing. Not a single one of these gave me any problems with texture or pigmentation. I’m pretty much in love with the entire right side of this palette.
When you open up the middle of the palette, there are four blushes, a mirror, and a city skyline design of Los Angeles.
The blushes in this palette are super soft and feminine. The top blush in the swatch above actually reminds me of NARS “Super Orgasm” blush because it has specks of glitter in it. I’d probably wear this blush on a night out whereas the bottom blush is a little more subdued and contains no glitter.
The highlighter was velvety-soft and the bronzer was pigmented, but it is a bit light for my skin tone. The bronzer would be a good shade for contouring the more delicate area’s of my face, like my nose.
Overall: For $11, you just can’t beat this palette. You get a wide variety of bright shades, both matte and shimmer, as well as two blushes, a highlighter, and a bronzer. The packaging is playful and fun, and the palette is compact enough to travel with. If brights aren’t your thing, you can check out BH’s two other California inspired palettes.
