I love getting to review organic, cruelty-free skincare products! You just feel better knowing that they are wholesome and good for not just your skin, but your entire body. Balanced Guru’s Astringent Masque has been my weekly mask for awhile now and it’s really special because it is made from certified organic ingredients in a powder formula. It took me awhile to put a review for this product up because sometimes reviewing skin products can be really tricky. There are so many products going on my face on any given day, from foundations to powders to blushes, that it can be hard to know what is helping my skin and what is just not working. Every week I have some “me” time and use this mask on my face. This particular mask is made specifically for oily or congested skin, but Balanced Guru has a masque for every skin type.

The Balanced Guru Astringent Masque is made with organic citrus and sea kelp. It also has Lemon Verbena, Lemongrass, and Lemon to help control oil production. The sea kelp and sea buckthorn help detoxify your skin and the base of the mask, oatmeal, is soothing and calming for your skin. I love that I know exactly what is inside of this mask and that it is organic and earthy. I also love that it comes in a powder.
I have the 1oz container of this masque, and it is perfect for traveling and carrying around with you. With a powder formula, you simply mix it with some water to create a paste and then apply it to your face. It’s almost like playing mad scientist yourself and you get to choose how thick or thin you want the consistency to be, as well as how much product you want to use.
I mix mine in a cleaned out cap to a haircare product. I add just enough water to create a paste and I use a cotton swab to mix it all together. It’s really simple and easy and I can reuse the container.
The product itself smells very earthy, organic, and fresh. I love the base of the masque because I can feel the oatmeal soothing my skin and gently exfoliating it at the same time.
The product may “tingle” slightly when you apply it, but it’s not painful. It reminds me of using an actual astringent on your face to get rid of oil and impurities. I like the feeling this masque gives my skin because I can actually feel it working to unclog my pores and get rid of oil. I usually leave it on for about ten minutes and rinse it off. Rinsing it off is the best part because you get a gentle exfoliation from the oatmeal base. Once you rinse it off, you will be amazed at how gorgeous your skin feels and looks. I noticed instantly that my skin looked much more luminous and glowing. My pores felt less congested and my skin felt very clean.
My bare face with no makeup and no retouching shows you that this product works. I tend to get some blemishes in the summer, especially on my cheeks and chin area, and this masque has been doing the perfect job at keeping my skin clean. After a really long day of wearing a face full of makeup or being outside, this masque just feels like heaven. There is nothing better than a skincare product that leaves your skin feeling completely renewed and fresh.
Balanced Guru’s Astringent Masque retails for $12.00 USD for 1.0oz. What I love about this product is that this “travel size” of 1.0oz will last you a long time. You need such a small amount of powder each time you use it! In the end, it works out to be a really great organic skincare product that is a beauty bargain. There are other masque’s available for different skin types, so be sure to check them out as well.
