Autumn 2011 Lookbook: Maybelline Scene on the Runway Collection, “Green With Fashion,” EyeStudio Palette, Photographs & Swatches

I adore Maybelline’s EyeStudio eyeshadow palettes. If you need any proof, take a look back on some of the posts I’ve done on Maybelline within the past year, and you’ll see just how many palettes I own and love. When I found out that the Scene on the Runway Collection was coming out, and it was going to include some brand new, limited edition EyeStudio palettes, I knew I had to find them immediately! After completing what I affectionately call a “drugstore crawl” (you know, when you visit every drugstore in a twenty mile radius to find what you’re looking for), I finally came across the brand new limited edition palettes. To see photographs and swatches of the ever-gorgeous Green With Fashion,

I believe there were four palettes in total for this collection, and this palette instantly drew my eye in. First of all, that green. Look at that green! It is to-die-for and dazzling. Knowing how wonderful the quality of these eyeshadow palettes are, I knew they would be super soft and velvety and put down rich pigment.

These particular EyeStudio palettes are retailing for just under $10 each, which is pricier than the permanent EyeStudio palettes. Luckily, if you play your cards right in the drugstore, you can make out with an incredible deal on these palettes. At my local Rite Aid, they were having a buy one, get one 50% on Maybelline, and there was also a tear-out $2 off coupon on the display. In addition to that, when you spend $20 or more on Maybelline at Rite Aid right now, you get a $5 coupon good towards any future cosmetics purchase. In all, I spent just under $25 total for two of these EyeStudio palettes, a blush from this collection, and a lipstick from this collection. And let’s face it, even if I didn’t bargain shop, I would still kerplunk down a $10 bill for one of these palettes anyday.

Green With Fashion contains four eyeshadows: a matte flesh colored taupe (which is actually exactly my skin-tone), a shimmering champagne, a shimmering teal green, and a darkened-green with light green shimmer in it. I was really excited about the matte shade in this palette, since we don’t see them too often in the drugstore. I also think that the nude shades will go perfectly with the brightness of the teal and the sophistication of the darkened green shimmer.

You can see that the matte shade in the upper left hand corner is pretty much a dead-on flesh tone for me, which makes it the perfect color for blending out in the crease, or even for a brow-bone highlight. Every single shade in this palette was full-on rich in pigmentation, and I only needed one tiny swipe to put down major color. Once again, the Maybelline EyeStudio palettes please in every single way!

Maybelline’s “Scene on the Runway” Collection is limited edition for Fall 2011, and can currently be found at drugstores and mass retailers nationwide. This collection has a few other EyeStudio palettes, four lipsticks, blushes, and nail polishes, as well. If you see this display out, be sure to give it a look because it is absolutely stunning.

There are either 3 or 4 new palettes in total…I know I definitely saw a third one which has blue eyeshadows in it! You should be able to find them at any local drugstore in your area, but because these are new, some drugstores may not have them out yet. I had to check a few different drugstores my area, and finally found them at a Rite Aid. You’ll find them in the brand new cosmetic display section where they should have a cardboard display housing all of this collection.

Hi Estee– I shoot with a Nikon SLR and I use a 50mm f1.4 lens with it. I photograph things against a simple white table that I bought at Ikea and use natural lighting.
