I hope you are having an incredible and safe Independence Day weekend wherever you are. It has been scorching hot where I live, with the heat index being well over 105 degrees each day. It’s been kind of a bummer because it limits how much I want to be outdoors, but at least it cools down at night for a lovely fireworks display. This is my 4th of July Makeup for 2016. It’s a little bit sassy and includes our wondrous red, white, and blue flag colors. I always like to keep it somewhat simple though and not pile on the makeup, simply because of the heat and because usually the day includes fun activities. I used mostly all drugstore products for this look. More details inside,
You know that I am a slave to winged eyeliner. I used Milani’s Color Play Felt-Tip Liner Pen in “02 – Blue Definition.” I applied it all over my entire upper lash-line and flicked it out into a cat eye. I lined my lower water-line with Maybelline’s Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil in “Cashmere White.” I also extended that lower lash-line into a line that directly cuts next to the blue winged liner. I always do my liner first before face makeup, this way you can use a makeup wipe to clean the edges up and make them super straight and sharp. Lastly, I used Hard Candy’s Walk The Line Liquid Eyeliner in “Lace” in between the blue and white cat-eye lines for a pop of silver sparkle. This helps to break up the colors and cover up any imperfect lines.
I curled my lashes and applied mascara to complete the look!
For my lips, I used the new Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in “Cruel.” I just purchased this over the weekend and I love this shade. It’s a metallic red with tons of micro-shimmer in it. Red lipsticks are really easy to find and come by though, so use whatever you have in your makeup drawer.
I kept the rest of the makeup extremely light because the eyes and lips are bold and fun. I want people to see the red, white, and blue and not my cheek color or face makeup. Plus, with the temperature soaring here, I try to wear as little face makeup as possible.
Happy Independence Day! Tweet me and Instagram me your 4th of July Makeup!

You have fab lips, you know? I like the look. When it’s over 80, I barely wear foundation, myself, but mascara & color is always doable.
Hmm, the 4th– I was doing a peach-themed week then. I used peach blush & shadows with soft taupe-y brown liner, flicked out a tad at the edge.

Thank you! I love peach and brown together. It’s nice and light, and it tends to glow during the summer!
